IO Interactive, well-recognized for their contributions to the Hitman series, has at last unveiled their forthcoming James Bond video game.
007: First Light is scheduled for a 2026 launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
This game will serve as an introduction to Bond’s backstory, with the press release verifying that this is the initial opportunity for fans to follow Bond’s journey from joining MI6 at 26 years old to eventually becoming a fully-fledged spy. The development team at IOI has crafted a distinct, independent tale specifically for this game.

007 First Light Is The First James Bond Game In Over Ten Years
It’s been a while since there’s been a new James Bond video game on the market. From 2006 to 2013, Activision held the rights but their games didn’t live up to expectations, with 007 Legends being particularly criticized. After this flop, MGM and EON Productions decided not to renew Activision’s license.
Development of the game began in 2020, with IOI entering full production in 2021.
Without a doubt, no James Bond game has come close to matching the acclaim of the iconic 1997 release, GoldenEye 007. Remarkably, this classic game was re-launched for contemporary systems like Nintendo Switch and Xbox in 2023, demonstrating that there’s still a strong demand for top-notch 007 titles. With the recently unveiled trailer, it seems as though 007 First Light will live up to these expectations.
