007 First Light’s Combat and Physicality is Inspired by the Daniel Craig Era of Movies

The creators of 007 First Light have stated that the game’s action and realistic movements take inspiration from the James Bond films starring Daniel Craig.

IO Interactive’s new 007 game, First Light, is heavily influenced by the James Bond films starring Daniel Craig. The developers previously used Craig’s likeness on the character Agent 47 for an early demo, and now they’ve confirmed that the overall style and feel of the game are also drawing inspiration from those same movies.

007 First Light Draws Inspiration from Casino Royale’s Style of Movement

In a recent Edge Magazine interview (reported by GamesRadar+), Creative Director Hakan Abrak discussed how the team drew inspiration from Daniel Craig’s portrayal of James Bond for their new game, 007 First Light. While not a direct copy, Abrak explained they wanted the game to feel fresh. They focused on making the character’s movements similar to Craig’s Bond – constantly moving, athletic, and acrobatic, much like the opening chase scene in Casino Royale.

Abrak explained that they didn’t want to create a character who was already a perfect hero from the start—someone who was tough, experienced, and emotionally closed off. They believe players wouldn’t find that very engaging. They used the example of the James Bond film *Dr. No* from 1962, where Bond is already an established super-agent, and pointed out that this makes the character less relatable.
