There Are Still Plenty of Exciting Strategy Games Releases Left In 2025
The last few months of 2025 are shaping up to be fantastic for fans of grand strategy, space, sci-fi, and historical games! Big titles like Europa Universalis V and Anno 117: Pax Romana are scheduled to release very soon. After looking at the upcoming releases, it’s clear we have a lot to anticipate in the final two months of the year – some of the biggest strategy games are just around the corner! 10 – Stellar Reach
It’s been an interesting year for 4X strategy games. While Civilization VII was a highly anticipated release, many players were disappointed. On the bright side, Endless Legend 2 impressed fans even in its early access form, successfully capturing the spirit of the original. One more major title, Stellar Reach, is about to launch, and it aims to please hardcore grand strategy gamers with deep technology options, intricate economics, and large-scale military gameplay. We haven’t seen much of it yet, but with the release just days away, we’ll soon get a good look at what it offers!
9 – Super Fantasy Kingdom
I’m always excited when I see a game published by Hooded Horse – they consistently deliver quality strategy titles! Their latest, Super Fantasy Kingdom, looks fantastic. It’s a strategy city-builder with a roguelike twist, and I’m really intrigued by the premise. You’re tasked with rebuilding your kingdom after it’s been destroyed, but you also have to defend against waves of monsters that attack every single night. It’s hitting Early Access on October 24th, and I can’t wait to try it out!
The game revolves around a satisfying cycle: during the day, you build up your settlement, gather resources like wood and stone, and organize production to get food and gold. At night, your team of heroes automatically defends against tougher and tougher waves of fantasy enemies, including challenging bosses. What really stands out about Super Fantasy Kingdom is its art style – it’s colorful, adventurous, and beautifully reminds me of classic Nintendo games like Super Mario!
8 – Whiskerwood
Most games put you in the role of a cat lover, but Whiskerwood flips that idea on its head. In this new game from Hooded Horse, you lead a group of hardworking mice against the cats, who are the ones in charge. It’s a detailed city-builder and colony management game with realistic elements and a charming, but slightly unsettling, take on the classic cat-and-mouse chase.
As the leader of the ‘Whiskers,’ you’ll build and expand your town, sending out explorers to discover new lands and start settlements – all to keep the powerful, clawed creatures in charge happy. The game focuses on creating complex, automatic systems to collect and process over 40 different resources. Your biggest challenge will be balancing the needs of your mouse citizens – like providing food, water, and shelter – with the growing and demanding taxes imposed by the furry overlords, especially since you’re building on small, often tall, island maps.
