10 Best Bosses in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert is easily one of the strongest RPGs released recently, and for good reason. Its impressive boss designs and engaging combat system are major highlights.

Crimson Desert features a huge number of bosses – over 70 in total! About 28 of these appear as part of the main story, while most are found through side quests or by exploring the game world. Many of these bosses are creatively designed with unique themes, but which ones truly shine? Here’s a ranking of the best boss designs in the game.

10. Cubewalker Lithus

Strange, But Cool

The Cubewalker Lithus is a particularly frustrating boss to fight in the game. While several bosses require you to target a central core to defeat them, the Cubewalker stands out with its impressive design.

This boss looks really scary when you first see it, and the tight fighting space makes it even more challenging. Luckily, you can defeat it fast if you’re willing to move outside the designated arena.

Cubewalker Lithus is a pretty good boss, and its distinct design makes it stand out, especially compared to other bosses of its type.

9. Cassius Morten

So Much Blood

You’ll face Cassius in chapter 6, and he’s a memorable boss fight. The arena is covered in blood, creating a particularly intimidating atmosphere that really fits the difficulty of the battle.

This boss is incredibly intimidating, with striking red armor and a dangerous, spiked mace. The atmosphere is perfect for a challenging fight, and the visual impact of his attacks – seeing blood spray with each swing – makes the experience even more intense.

Few boss battles are as memorable as the one against Cassius Morten, thanks to its intense music and challenging fight.

8. Reed Devil

They’re in the Reeds, Man

The battle with the Reed Devil takes a while, which actually enhances the experience. You’ll have to pursue him before you can finally confront him directly in the reed field.

Before the final battle, the Reed Devil toys with you by creating numerous copies to destroy. In the actual fight, it lives up to its frightening reputation, constantly vanishing and reappearing.

The Reed Devil’s attacks are visually striking, with fiery arcs appearing around his weapon, making the battle more immersive. This is the first time in Crimson Desert that the boss fights really stand out as distinct and special.

7. Black Fang

Reminiscent of Another Series

If you enjoyed battling tough bosses like Sif in Dark Souls or the Champion’s Wolf in Dark Souls 3, Crimson Desert offers a similar experience with its fight against the demonic wolf, Black Fang.

During the “Howls from the North Gate” quest, you’ll encounter a powerful wolf boss that keeps you constantly on your toes. The quest involves hunting down a pack of wolves, defeating them one by one, and finally facing their leader – a fearsome black and red wolf with a distinctive, warped coat.

Fighting the monster deep in the woods creates a tense and immersive experience, and defeating it is marked by a dramatic cutscene featuring the sound of howling wolves.

6. Crowcaller

Very Dramatic

Pearl Abyss really excelled at creating a distinct atmosphere for certain boss battles, and Crowcaller is a prime example. When you find him, the fight takes place in a large arena dominated by a huge, dead tree.

Crows circle overhead, making the scene even more unsettling, and cages dangle from the tree branches. This creates a uniquely dark and intense atmosphere that surpasses other boss battles.

The way you and Crowcaller move during the cutscenes really emphasizes how fierce this fight is – it’s one that will stay with you for a long time.

5. Fortain the Cursed Knight

The Specters Are Awesome

Initially, Fortain, The Cursed Knight, appears to be a fairly straightforward enemy. He’s a heavily armored opponent, but his armor looks more detailed and refined than what you’ve seen before.

The fight takes a turn when you discover Fortain can summon ghostly figures to attack you. He strikes with his sword while a specter rapidly fires arrows your way.

As Fortain rushes forward, a powerful spectral warrior strikes with a huge blade. Though he might seem simple at first, Fortain is a surprisingly challenging boss, and the fight becomes more complex and interesting as it progresses.

4. Awakened Ludvig

Thor Without the Hammer

Things are about to get much more challenging. When you enter the building to face Ludvig, you’ll immediately be attacked by an enemy who uses lightning.

Ludvig is similar to the god Thor, but instead of a hammer, he attacks with powerful lightning. He starts as a manageable opponent, dealing some electric damage, but becomes much more dangerous in the second phase of the battle.

In the second phase of the battle, Ludvig starts attacking with lightning blades, powerfully cutting through the area and demonstrating even greater skill than before. The intensity of the fight was truly intimidating.

3. Lava Myurdin

Burn You Alive

Okay, let’s talk about Lava Myurdin! Seriously, this fight is amazing. The whole arena is covered in fire and burning wood, and honestly, it just feels incredible – it’s easily one of the best designed battles in the whole game, in my opinion.

Myurdin attacks with intense flames, and his rage is overwhelming. He expresses his anger by tearing up the earth and summoning lava from below.

The longer the battle goes on, the more intense the heat and flames become, quickly filling the arena. This creates a uniquely dramatic atmosphere, and defeating the opponent is incredibly rewarding.

2. Antumbra’s Sword

Get Ready to Parry

You can find Antumbra’s Sword in the Sanctum of Absolution, a challenging area you might stumble upon early in the game. Be warned – you’ll likely be defeated quickly! The Sanctum is guarded by a very powerful and intimidating boss.

When Antumbra’s Sword appears, the sky dims and a creepy green light shines. This signals a huge sword is about to crash down. Though it can seem difficult, mastering this fight is incredibly rewarding.

Embrace the challenge and try to parry this difficult boss, just like in the Souls games. Successfully timing your parries will be incredibly rewarding, as his attacks are tough to master. The boss is designed almost flawlessly.

1. Beloth the Darksworn

Lich King?

We’ve reached Beloth the Darksworn, likely the hardest boss in all of Crimson Desert. You’ll find Beloth in some ancient ruins, surrounded by sharp shards of ice that jut from the ground.

The game begins with a dramatic cutscene showing Beloth escaping from ice. Almost immediately, a chilling frost settles over everything, creating the sensation of battling in a blizzard.

As the battle starts, a lingering haze clears, revealing a truly challenging encounter. However, this fight is remarkably well-crafted – everything, from the difficulty level to the overall atmosphere and visual effects, feels perfectly balanced and intentional. It’s clear a lot of thought went into making this boss fight a standout experience.
