10 Best Power Rangers Who Have Multiple Forms, Ranked

Power Rangers is an American version of the Japanese show Super Sentai, which features heroes and special effects. The show is known for its merchandise, and many popular characters get powerful upgrades. While the Red Ranger usually gets the most attention, other Rangers can also gain new abilities. Sometimes, Rangers change colors in different seasons, which also gives them new forms.

Throughout the Power Rangers series, many of the most memorable Rangers have taken on different roles. For example, Jason Lee Scott is famous as the original Red Ranger, but he also became the powerful Zeo Gold Ranger. He’s not alone – several other prominent Rangers have transformed into multiple forms, showcasing their connection to the morphing grid and unlocking unique abilities.

10. Jayden Shiba Has an Incredible Amount of Battlizers

Power Rangers: Samurai

Most Power Rangers seasons don’t have as many Battlizers as Power Rangers Samurai. While the Red Ranger gets a lot of attention, nearly every Samurai Ranger gains a Super Mode in addition to a Mega Mode. However, Jayden Shiba, the Red Samurai Ranger, has even more unique transformations than the others. Although his transformations aren’t necessarily the strongest, he definitely has the most different ones.

Besides Mega Mode and Super Mode, Shiba can also transform into Super Mega Mode, Shark Attack Mode, and Shogun Mode. While many of these forms were created to support the show’s toy line, they each offer a unique and memorable visual design. Most of these power-ups are best suited for battles with the giant Zords, as they’d be too chaotic for regular fights. Despite this, fans generally agree that they look fantastic.

9. Carlos Vallerte Brings the Black Ranger Back into the Fold

Power Rangers: Turbo

Carlos Vallerte is unique because he’s played two different color Power Rangers – first Green, then Black. Usually, when there’s a Green Ranger, there isn’t a Black one at the same time. Besides Tommy Oliver, Vallerte is the only character to be both, which makes the choice of color seem particularly significant when you look back at the series.

Vallerte is unique among Power Rangers because the main villain of his series actually turned him into a monster. While he never used any special weapon upgrades, he’s been part of some incredibly powerful Ranger teams. Even after finishing his time as a main Ranger, he continues to make appearances, usually as the Black Space Ranger. Though he often wears a secondary Ranger color, he remains a vital character.

8. Casey Rhodes’s Upgrades Are Epically Stylized

Power Rangers: Jungle Fury

Casey Rhodes is the Red Ranger on a team of skilled martial artists known as the Power Rangers. While he fought after the Battlizers, his upgrades were unique. The studio reportedly used most of the money meant for Battlizer features to create the Spirit Rangers. Despite this, Casey still gained powerful new forms. Every member of his team can access Jungle Fury Master Mode, but Casey is the only one who can use the Strike Rider.

Rhodes’ Strike Rider mode is activated when he’s piloting his vehicle and features a striking visual change. He gains extra armor plating all over his body, and his boots and gloves are heavily upgraded. Although it’s not officially a ‘Battlizer,’ it works just like one, and many fans consider it to be part of that category.

7. Amelia Jones Goes From the Pink Ranger to the Team Leader

Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury

Amelia Jones is a standout Power Ranger in recent years. Notably, she’s one of the few women to become the Red Ranger, and she excels in the role. She first joined the team as the Dino Fury Pink Ranger, then stepped up to become the Dino Fury Red Ranger when Zayto scaled back his involvement. Later, she continued as the Cosmic Fury Red Ranger, solidifying her position as a team leader and a prominent Red Ranger.

Kimberly Jones, as one of just two women to play the Red Ranger, faced significant expectations. However, she delivers a fantastic performance, making her character one of the most memorable Rangers in recent Power Rangers history. She’s also currently one of the last Red Rangers, and has quickly become a fan favorite. What’s especially unique is that she’s the only Power Ranger ever to switch from being the Pink Ranger to the Red Ranger – a really impressive feat!

6. Andros Receives the Very First Battlizer in the Franchise

Power Rangers: Lost in Space

Andros, who grew up traveling between space colonies, leads the Space Power Rangers because he knows the terrain so well. Many longtime fans consider him their favorite Red Ranger, and he’s even been hailed as a savior of the universe. He also made history as the first Red Ranger to receive a Battlizer – a powerful upgrade. While the Battlizer’s design looks a bit old-fashioned and is inspired by his surroundings, it’s still a memorable part of the show, largely because of Andros. Interestingly, despite its impressive appearance, the Battlizer wasn’t very effective in actual battles.

Andros gains the ability to fly thanks to a power-up, even without using his Zord. While this seems like a great advantage, it actually hindered him in fights. Because of this, Andros usually saved the power-up for getting around. Despite this drawback, he’s still a very powerful and skilled ranger among those with more experience.

5. Nick Russell Upgrades His Abilities With Powerful Fire Magic

Power Rangers: Mystic Force

Nick Russell, the Red Ranger in Power Rangers: Mystic Force, is unique because he can use magic – a skill not typically seen in rangers. Mystic Force is a particularly imaginative season of the show, standing out from others with its fantasy elements. While Nick can enhance his powers with magic and utilizes several powerful Battlizers, his Battlizer form remains his most memorable transformation.

As a huge Power Rangers fan, I always thought the Red Legend Warrior and Dragon Fire Ranger designs in Mystic Force were incredible – seriously some of the best looks the series has ever had. It’s cool how any Ranger can unlock the Legend Warrior form, but the Dragon form? That’s strictly for the Red Ranger. And speaking of the Red Ranger, Nick’s storyline was particularly compelling; he ended up facing a similar curse as his father, Leanbow, ultimately becoming the second Knight Wolf in that season.

4. Sky Tate Eventually Becomes the S.P.D. Deka Ranger

Power Rangers: S.P.D.

Sky Tate begins as the Blue Ranger on S.P.D., but he always wanted to be the Red Ranger—and eventually gets the chance when Anubis Kruger is promoted. While he has other powerful forms, they’re mostly seen in comics and are very memorable. He also uses the visually striking S.P.D. Swat power-up, and it’s likely he’d continue to have access to it after becoming the team leader.

The Deka Ranger design by Tate is a fan favorite and considered one of the best additions to the comic series. Many fans hope to see this form officially included in future adaptations, and the upcoming reboot might make that happen. As a key character in the Soul of the Dragon storyline, Tate—now the commander of the S.P.D. Earth Base—would almost certainly appear if that story is ever adapted for live-action.

3. Zayto Starts as the Dino Fury Red Ranger, But Becomes So Much More

Power Rangers: Dino Fury

As a huge Power Rangers fan, I’m constantly amazed by Zayto. Seriously, the guy has had so many different forms! He’s gone from the Dino Fury Red Ranger to Pink, then Zenith, Cosmic Zenith, and even a Morphin Master. It’s honestly incredible – he’s surpassed even Tommy Oliver in terms of different Ranger roles! And it’s not just the titles; Zayto also seems to get every single power-up that either the Dino Fury or Cosmic Fury teams receive. He’s a powerhouse, plain and simple.

This alien, who used to lead a powerful force, has had more different forms than any other Power Ranger. But this isn’t because of anything special about him – it’s simply that modern Rangers get a lot of different looks to match the many toys sold with the show. Being a Morphin Master also makes him incredibly powerful, arguably one of the strongest characters in the entire series.

2. Jason Lee Scott Is the First Ranger to Receive a Dedicated “Power-Up”

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Jason Lee Scott was the very first Red Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and he was among the first Rangers to step down, only to later return. While he’s mostly featured in the show’s beginning, he had a more significant appearance in the Cosmic series, hinting at a possible return. Regardless, Jason remains an iconic figure as both the Red and Gold Rangers. He also proved he could use the Dragon Shield after Tommy Oliver passed on his powers.

Scott is widely considered one of the greatest Power Rangers, often named by fans as the best ever. While he’s incredibly popular, his biggest competitor has more different forms and uses them more effectively. Still, Scott’s Dragon Shield transformation was one of the earliest examples of a powerful, fan-created upgrade in the Power Rangers series.

1. Tommy Oliver Has Several Iconic Forms, But His First Remains the Most Popular

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Tommy Oliver holds the record for being a Power Ranger longer than anyone else, so it’s not surprising he’s donned more Ranger suits than most. He’s appeared in over 200 episodes – more than any other Ranger – transforming from the Green and White Mighty Morphin Rangers, to the Red Zeo Ranger, and ultimately the Black Dino Thunder Ranger. Throughout his time, he’s consistently worked to protect Earth and maintain the power source known as the Morphing Grid.

I’ve always been amazed by Tommy Oliver. He truly understands teamwork – he’s been everything from the leader to the supportive right hand, and a fantastic mentor too. Honestly, no one else in the Power Rangers has experienced so much throughout the years. And let’s not forget he’s an incredible fighter, especially with all the different powers he’s wielded! In my opinion, Tommy is the one Ranger who truly understands and has mastered the Morphing Grid.
