In simpler terms, when I use the word ‘undesirable,’ I’m referring to something not preferred or appealing. The roster showcases each character’s criminal background, even those with heinous acts like cannibalism and behaving childishly beyond reason. Each character has a unique weapon and special skill, ensuring multiple playthrough options.
In essence, the gameplay of Re-Loaded is quite basic, yet it carries an endearing quality. Navigating through a three-dimensional environment alongside a companion, your goal is to locate the exit, all while eliminating any moving targets you encounter along the way.
In most cases, adversaries disintegrate into a pool of red liquid, and the music has a techno beat that gives off a distinct 90s vibe. Re-Loaded might not offer the depth of other games on this list, but it’s an unusually tranquil game where you don’t have to fret over equipment or intricate controls.
9. Crash Bash
Don’t Sleep On The Spin-Offs
Crash Bash, unlike the acclaimed trilogy of single-player games by Naughty Dog, was met with less favorable responses. However, it’s evident that the game’s primary emphasis is on multiplayer, and in this aspect, it truly excels.
Crash Bash swaps the intricate platforming of the original for a rich collection of mini-games instead. As with any compilation, there are some disappointments, but overall, the enjoyable aspects outshine the not-so-good ones. In Crash Bash, you can collaborate with a buddy and even embark on an entire campaign side by side.
Be mindful: The captivating graphics might make it seem less challenging, but “Crash Bash” can be surprisingly difficult. If you aim to complete the story mode, both you and your teammate should be ready with top performance.
8. Um Jammer Lammy
Kick, Punch, Ya’ll Remember!
The original game “Parappa the Rapper” is renowned for being a cult classic rhythm game with some fantastic tunes, and although its sequel, “Um Jammer Lammy,” may not have achieved the same level of popularity, it’s worth noting that it boasts impressive cooperative play options.
The primary distinction between Parappa and Lammy lies in their roles; one is a rapper, while the other plays the guitar. However, the gameplay for both titles is quite similar, as you are presented with a sequence of commands synchronized with the music, and your task is to execute these commands as precisely as possible.
In the game “Um Jammer Lammy,” sequences are notably more challenging compared to those in Parappa. However, these sequences can be played cooperatively as a duet with another player. The second player assumes control over ‘Rammy,’ who is a black-and-white version of Lammy. Despite being a simplified rendition, the gameplay design for two players functions seamlessly in this arrangement.

Thanks to its arcade heritage, you can typically complete Metal Slug X within an hour, but it’s a step up from Metal Slug 2, the game it’s derived from. If you aim to save every hostage, though, it will take longer. Additionally, there are some unlockables waiting for you once you conquer the Arcade mode for the first time.
6. Command and Conquer: Red Alert
That Tesla Coil Sound, Though
The “Command and Conquer” collection boasts some of the finest Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games ever made. Although RTS games are commonly linked to PC gaming, the “Red Alert” series also has a well-executed console version on PlayStation 1, and it even supports cooperative play if you have the necessary hardware!
Red Alert is a meaty game for the PlayStation 1, and it can be played cooperatively if you have two consoles, two TVs, two copies of the game, and the sought-after Link Cable. I’ve personally used this setup, and while it’s quite a hassle to set up, it was groundbreaking at the time and functions flawlessly.
As a fellow strategy enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the opportunity to lead diverse armies simultaneously, even when they belong to the same faction. The most exhilarating aspect? Constructing interconnected bases that morph into an colossal war fortress capable of annihilating anything within its reach!
You can tap the ‘Select’ button to change your loyalty and observe as all your defensive units turn against your ally!
C&C takes effort to play co-op, but it serves as a platform for unforgettable battles.
5. Team Buddies
It’s In The Title
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but notice that Team Buddies often finds its way onto my PlayStation 1 wish list. However, this underrated game is more than just another entry – it’s a diamond in the rough, desperately waiting for a fresh remake.
For those who are new to this, “Team Buddies” is essentially an action-packed game that blends elements of a 3D shooter with real-time strategy (RTS). You’ll command a lively group of colorful beans, featuring a unique swearing option for added authenticity. Your objective is to traverse the map in search of cubes, which you can then use to purchase weapons, vehicles, and additional team members.
Thanks to its Real-Time Strategy gameplay, you’ll find yourself going head-to-head with numerous teams all vying for the same objectives. You’ll have to think quickly and adapt your strategies as you strive to maintain the lead. The game Team Buddies performs seamlessly in split screen mode, and its brief matches let you dive in and have a great time without needing to commit many hours to master it.
The crass humor may not be for everyone, but it adds a bit of charm, in my opinion.
4. Diablo
I Wouldn’t Want To Live Here
Diablo is also recognized as a popular game primarily on PC platforms. Yet, unlike many games, the PlayStation 1 version isn’t just a simple port; it features cooperative play right out of the box. This means you can experience the entire thrilling narrative alongside a companion.
In 2025, Diablo stands as the initial installment in an enduring Action Role-Playing Game (ARPG) franchise that continues to thrive. The original game was challenging to a fault and could be considered somewhat rough-hewn. However, every series needs a starting point, and this doesn’t diminish the thrilling gameplay or the captivating allure of the quest for loot and power.
In an unexpectedly drab and rough-hewn manner, the town of Tristram stands out as the centerpiece for your thrilling journeys. You’ll have the choice to embody a Warrior, Sorcerer, or Rogue, each character class featuring distinct advantages and disadvantages that can be delved into with a comrade by your side.
Too bad Diablo 2 isn’t available on the platform, but if you’re a fan of the original game, it’s definitely worth looking for.

Everything found within the game G-Darius offers an enjoyable experience whether played solo or with another person. When playing cooperatively, there are 15 campaign stages that unfold as part of a story featuring multiple conclusions. Each level culminates in a boss battle, each of which has two variations. If you’d rather focus solely on the bosses, you can do so by engaging in the boss rush mode.
2. Worms World Party
Worms Finest Gets An Upgrade
As an ardent fan, I can confidently say that for many of us long-time players, the Worms series truly shone brightest with Worms Armageddon. On PC, it was the sheer joy of exploring countless mods that made it stand out. And while Worms World Party doesn’t quite match up on console, it certainly offers a tantalizing glimpse into that same level of freedom and customization.
If “Worms World Party” were launched today, it’d probably be downloadable content (DLC) because it mainly enhances some aspects of the timeless classic, “Worms Armageddon”.
In Worms World Party, you’ll find all the charm that made Armageddon a favorite, including its quirky dialogue and vast arsenal of weapons. What sets Worms World Party apart is its flexible modifiers for gameplay and unmatched level of customization.
The “Worms” gameplay is at its best when turn-based chaos reigns, and it’s even more enjoyable in a cooperative setting. You can either compete against your friends or collaborate and crush armies as a team. Maps are randomly generated, ensuring each game is unique, and the “World Party” options keep the gameplay fresh and engaging.

A Cult Classic
In simpler terms, “Future Cop LAPD” is a thrilling 3D action-adventure game. You and another player will operate mechanized vehicles, challenging criminal organizations as they wreak havoc throughout the city.
This title boasts a dedicated fanbase due to its straightforward but expertly crafted premise. The challenge is challenging yet fair, and winning battles requires strategic thinking. Although the mechs are robust, they’re not indestructible by bullets. The narrative, or Crime War Mode, provides a solo or 2-player split screen campaign experience that can be enjoyed individually or together.
In a cooperative setting for Crime War, my partner and I share a single life gauge, which adds an unexpected dose of tension to our gameplay. This encourages us to strategize carefully, devising intelligent tactics to minimize damage as a team. Moreover, the diverse nature of mission objectives keeps things fresh and exciting, offering a warm welcome to variety in our shared adventure.
I’ve always been captivated by Future Cop LAPD, particularly its innovative Precinct Assault Mode, which served as a precursor to the MOBA genre we know today, long before it had an official name. However, even if you’re not drawn to that aspect, the game is still worth experiencing for its compelling campaign.
