10 Best Weapons In Warhammer Space Marine 2

10 Best Weapons In Warhammer Space Marine 2

As a seasoned Space Marine veteran who’s faced off against countless hordes of xenos scum, I can confidently say that the Melta Rifle is an absolute beast when it comes to dishing out damage. However, like any weapon, its effectiveness depends on the situation at hand. If you find yourself up against enemies lurking in the shadows, this trusty tool might as well be a paperweight. But fear not, for the Helldrake boss will quiver in its armor-plated boots when it feels your wrath!

In the sequel, Space Marine 2, you’ll find an expansive collection of weapons for the devout followers of the Emperor to employ during their campaign against aliens and heretics. Each weapon is meticulously crafted to unleash the Imperium’s fury and is tailored to obliterate your enemies in a manner that complements your gaming style and character class.

Initially, you possess standard-tier weapons, and as you reach specific experience (XP) levels, you can utilize Armory Data to enhance their statistics and rarity, up to the Relic level. The sole method of acquiring weapon XP is by participating in the game’s Player versus Environment (PvE) Operations, which involves grinding levels within these operations.

As I navigate through the game, there’s no shortage of weapons to select, but the grind for XP feels endless. Every Operation takes a good chunk of time – about 20 minutes or less if you’re lucky enough to have some skilled allies by your side. And to fully master each weapon, it seems I need to complete at least 10 Ruthless missions, which adds up quickly.

Absolutely, not everyone possesses such extensive time, so we’ve prepared a selection of weapons that we suggest focusing on in your struggle against the Imperium’s adversaries.

In our analysis, we’re considering every weapon as if it’s being utilized at the maximum challenge level, Ruthless, and we will suggest the Relic versions. Rest assured, these particular Relic weapons have lower rarity ratings. For competitive Player vs Player (PvP) strategies, explore the top 9 weapons on our sister site Game Rant.

All melee weapons featured also have Fencing as their defense trait, which increases a weapon’s perfect parry window. They’re a lifesaver in any melee brawl.

10 Bolt Rifle

The Space Marine’s Swiss Army Knife

Weapon TypePrimary
ClassTactical
Excels atBurst damage, ammo economy
Perks to Consider ,

Perhaps you’re curious as to why the Bolt Rifle, an early weapon in the game, appears relatively low on the list. Despite being versatile with a substantial ammo supply and capable of handling large groups effectively, it seems to be underrated.

It’s not very effective in the Standard and Master-Crafted levels, but the Bolt Rifle really excels in the Artificer tier and above.

At the Master-Crafted level, you can equip an additional Grenade Launcher to your Bolt Rifle, swapping the magnification feature for immense firepower. With six grenades at your disposal, you’ll be able to inflict significant damage on individual targets and large groups of enemies.

With the Tactical’s ability “Emperor’s Revenge,” which allows you to reload your magazine after defeating an enemy of Major rank or higher (with a convenient 30-second cool down), you’ll never find yourself lacking in explosives. Enemies on Ruthless difficulty will struggle to withstand your relentless onslaught.

9 Heavy Bolter

Hands Off My Gun!

Weapon TypePrimary
ClassHeavy
Excels atRanged mob slaying and sustained fire
Perks to Consider , ,

As a Heavy class player, your role is primarily about providing continuous firepower to aid your team, and the Heavy Bolter serves as an instrument for unleashing a torrent of bullets.

With significant investment in both this weapon and my Heavy skill trees, I’ve accumulated at least 800 rounds of ammunition for taking down xenos and heretics.

The Heavy Bolter is designed to rain bullets on your enemies, working harmoniously with its frontal Iron Halo shield that deflects incoming enemy fire while simultaneously firing back. I’d suggest considering the Relic version for optimal use. This model boasts a starting Firepower of 9 and an impressive Magazine Capacity of 525 rounds.

With the right perks, you can shoot for a long time before it has to cool down.

Additionally, I suggest you consider investing in bonuses that enhance Venting Speed and ammunition count, because perks that boost damage while in the Heavy Stance (aiming) and ammo capacity cater to the idea of fortifying yourself and firing an endless barrage of bullets. Precision isn’t crucial as long as you’re within shooting distance of your targets.

8 Stalker Bolt Rifle

Put That Scope To Good Use

Weapon TypePrimary
ClassTactical, Sniper
Excels atRanged damage
Perks to ConsiderLong Shot, Reloaded Restoration

Instead of opting for weapons like the Sniper Bolt Rifle or Las Fusil that offer higher damage but limited ammo, consider the Stalker Bolt Rifle as a balanced choice. It provides sufficient critical damage and also offers an adequate supply of ammunition for those seeking a balance between dealing substantial damage and ensuring survivability.

In my experience, the Stalker Bolt rifle performs much like Destiny 2’s Scout Rifles, requiring precise, controlled shots rather than rapid, haphazard firing. For those who are comfortable with their aim, I suggest opting for the weapon due to its impressive damage output. However, if you’re not as confident in your accuracy, you might want to consider using an alternative weapon instead.

The Stalker Bolt Rifle is not designed for taking down large groups of lesser foes, but instead, it’s ideal for targeting more powerful adversaries that present a greater danger. Its special ability, “Relic,” returns 50% of the number of enemies hit as energy.

Apart from being great, this “perk” significantly boosts your damage against foes situated over 20 meters away by 10%. Strategically allocating your Mastery Points towards increased ammo capacity and headshot damage allows you to effortlessly eliminate opponents at a secure distance.

7 Thunder Hammer

Meginjord Sold Separately.

Weapon TypeMelee
ClassAssault
Excels atClose range mob slaying and single damage
Perks to Consider ,

In this game, the Thunder Hammer stands out as the most potent melee weapon, yet it’s also the heaviest, making it slower than others. Despite its bulkiness, it’s an excellent choice for swiftly dealing with Tyranid minions and even bringing many Majoris enemies to submission with a single powerful charge attack.

The Thunder Hammer specializes in dealing heavy damage all at once, and landing a Light Attack against any enemy from the Minoris faction leaves them open for a follow-up Gun Strike.

Using this weapon effectively may expose you to potential attacks due to its powerful swings, hence we advise focusing on the lower skill tree. Its benefits primarily revolve around striking multiple targets swiftly and frequently.

“Imposing Shockwave” expands the impact zone of Ground Slam by 50%, and “Swift Horde Cleaver” allows for quicker elimination of smaller foes, enabling concentration on more significant adversaries.

Among all close-combat weapons, this one is my preferred choice. Its powerful finishing blows make defeating opponents that much more gratifying.

In the skilled hands of an effective Assault player, the Thunder Hammer packs a punch as powerful as a speeding truck, making you nearly indomitable. It’s an excellent pick that significantly boosts your unstoppable potential.

6 Power Sword

Knighthood Exemplified

Weapon TypeMelee
ClassBulwark
Excels atStyle switching between single damage and add clearing
Perks to Consider , Power Restoration

Among their group, the Bulwark stands out as the armored warrior, a formidable presence. Wielding the Power Sword and his shield together, he becomes an adversary to be taken seriously. Players who choose Bulwark often appreciate the Power Sword not only for its medieval charm but also for its adaptable gameplay style.

The top skill tree focuses on dealing damage, while the bottom focuses on clearing Minoris enemies. Since you’ll be consistently in the thick of close combat, I recommend the latter.

In a Power Style, “Health Regeneration” increases your contested health by 100%, meaning you’ll continually regain health when in this style, making you more resilient in crowded areas.

Remember that both Speed Style and Power Style deliver equal damage, yet they are designed for distinct scenarios.

Speed Style is used for damaging isolated targets with quick thrusts and cuts, while Power Style cleaves through Minoris enemies with wide swings, leaving them vulnerable to Gun Strikes. Just make sure to use the right style for the right situation.

Using the Power Sword for parries is an incredibly gratifying experience, and while it may not inflict as much damage as other melee weapons, its utility and aesthetic appeal make it just as valuable.

5 Las Fusil

I-Spy A Dead Heretic

Weapon TypePrimary
ClassSniper
Excels atPenetrates through targets for multikills and single target headshots
Perks to Consider ,

Contrasting its competitor, the stands out superior in all aspects, despite having fewer rounds and a slower firing rate. The advantage of loading each shot provides an opportunity to aim or correct your shots precisely. Remarkably, its beams can pass through multiple targets, much like the linear fusion rifles in Destiny 2.

Due to its significance in challenging scenarios, the Las Fusil is frequently chosen by Snipers as their preferred weapon. However, one issue with this gun is that loading a shot causes it to tremble violently, which can make aiming more difficult compared to other sniper rifles equipped with scopes.

You can take out a Major enemy with a headshot, and any unfortunate Minor enemy nearby will also be eliminated. If you upgrade your skills in the lower tree, you can expand the range of your beams for potential multiple kills, but this may not be beneficial if Tyranids swarm you.

Instead of the Las Fusil being optimal for general use, it truly shines when used for long-range shooting, making it an ideal pick if you’re farming, given its impressive long-range damage capabilities – one of the best in the game. Good luck with your hunt!

4 Plasma Pistol

Turn Them To Goo

Weapon TypeSecondary
ClassBulwark, Heavy
Excels atHigh ammo count, fully charged shots deal high damage
Perks to Consider ,

This pistol, located within the mid-tier category, has the capability to be powered up for powerful shots aimed at your adversaries, which could prove highly damaging.

Although regular shots from this weapon don’t inflict significant damage like the Bolt Pistol, charged shots detonate on impact, obliterating groups of enemies. Moreover, strategic headshots against stronger foes can momentarily stun them and disrupt their calls for backup reinforcements from afar.

Though the Plasma Pistol doesn’t need to be reloaded conventionally, it may overheat, compelling you to seek alternative means of damage. Instead of waiting for it to cool down naturally, pressing the reload button will expedite and preventive cool the weapon.

Lowering the cost of Charged Shots from 10 to 8 energy significantly improves your ammunition management, as it reduces the strain on your energy reserves and allows for more frequent use of these powerful shots without depleting your ammo supply as quickly.

Each time you use a Charged Shot, it requires 10 rounds, but this doesn’t imply you need to have 10 or more rounds to load it. In fact, even if there’s only one bullet in your chamber, you can still discharge a Charged Shot.

3 Melta Rifle

Burn The Xenos Scum

Weapon TypePrimary
ClassTactical, Vanguard
Excels atClose-range add clearing and DPS
Perks to Consider ,

Space Marine 2 introduces its take on the shotgun: a thermally-charged weapon that unleashes a fiery blast, incinerating anything immediately in your path. This powerful tool could very well earn a place in the Shotgun Hall of Fame.

This weapon excels as a short-range option, dishing out burst damage towards individual enemies, yet it can also clear groups simultaneously. It’s particularly effective in disrupting enemy actions, almost like summoning reinforcements. In Tyranid-centric missions, I often position myself close to an edge and fire at them, causing a large number of kills when they cluster up.

This firearm boasts a relatively slow firing tempo, a painstakingly long reloading time, and a limited ammo capacity. My advice is to prioritize skills that counterbalance these drawbacks. The “First Shot” perk for the Melta rifle is highly beneficial because the initial shot of a newly loaded magazine inflicts more damage.

While the Melta is a great damage dealer for just about any type of Operation, note that it’s practically useless against enemies you can’t reach.

Enemies like the and can still be damaged if you upgrade the Melta Rifle’s range or you get uncomfortably close to them, but the Helldrake boss will just laugh at you.

2 Chainsword

The Doomslayer Might Like This

Weapon TypeMelee
ClassTactical, Vanguard, Bulwark, Assault
Excels atClose-range damage, versatile combos
Perks to Consider ,

In the universe of Warhammer 40k, there’s no denying that the Boltgun is a legendary weapon, much like the Space Marines themselves. Wielding it feels like holding a symbol of power and terror, as each pull of the trigger unleashes a torrent of destruction. Every roar from its barrel is a testament to the carnage it brings, leaving a trail of blood and gore in its wake.

The Chainsaw boasts several combinations, which you can perform by following a sequence of light attacks with a heavy one. These combinations encompass everything from swift kicks to massive area-of-effect stomps. This feature enables you to handle smaller foes effectively, even when your focus is on an elite enemy.

The strongest move is the Stomp attack, which is a heavy strike you can perform following three lighter ones. Although it takes some time to prepare, it’s very effective in preserving your personal space when you’re in a crowded area.

“Resounding Force” and “Vigorous Step” amplify the potency of this powerful strike, expanding the reach of the Stomp and granting an additional Stomp to you.

Additionally, it’s a melee weapon that’s widely available among all character classes except the Sniper and Heavy. This means leveling up becomes smoother, providing you with extra time to acclimate yourself to melee combats.

1 Bolt Pistol

A Powerful Side-Arm

Weapon TypeSecondary
ClassEvery Class
Excels atBackup ranged weapon
Perks to Consider ,

Don’t underestimate the . It is an extremely reliable weapon capable of popping the heads of smaller enemies and harassing larger elites.

Despite lacking a remarkable shooting distance or firepower, it offers an exceptionally swift reloading speed and ammunition capacity, allowing for numerous skirmishes without needing immediate restocking.

This sidearm is ideal for taking out straggling opponents, especially smaller groups of lesser enemies, as it allows me to quickly eliminate them with precision shots that conserve my main ammunition.

This weapon is truly versatile, proving itself in any situation, and if you find yourself low on alternatives, it’s the trusty standby. Given that all classes utilize this weapon, elevating its power happens swiftly compared to other armaments.
