10 Games Like The Mandalorian and Grogu

It’s been seven years since The Mandalorian began streaming on Disney+ and since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hit theaters, and now Star Wars is back on the big screen with The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Taking place after the events of The Mandalorian Season 3 and before Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian and Grogu continues the story of Din Djarin and Grogu. They work with the New Republic to track down remaining Imperial leaders, but their mission leads them into a dangerous conflict with the Hutt Cartel.

Although The Mandalorian and Grogu isn’t expected to make as much money at the box office as other live-action Star Wars films, it should still be very popular with fans of the characters and the creative team behind it, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

If you enjoyed The Mandalorian and Grogu, and you’re looking for more stories in the Star Wars universe, here are 10 games you might like. This list is especially for fans of their recent adventures!

Minor spoilers for The Mandalorian and Grogu ahead.

10. Dishonored 2

Pedro Pascal’s Sole Gaming Credit

Fans of The Mandalorian probably also enjoy the work of Pedro Pascal, the main actor who plays the character Djarin. While Pascal often provides the voice and appears as Djarin, sometimes Brendan Wayne or Lateef Crowder wear the suit and perform the physical role.

I’ve been a fan of Pascal for ages – he’s been amazing in so many critically acclaimed projects like The Wild Robot and Game of Thrones! It’s cool to see him branching out, and I was really excited to discover he lent his talents to Dishonored 2, which was Arkane Lyon’s awesome stealth action game. It’s his only video game appearance so far, as far as I know.

So, Dishonored 2 is a sequel to the first game, and it’s awesome! This time around, you can play as either Corvo Attano, who you might remember from the first game, or his daughter, Emily Kaldwin. Basically, we got overthrown in a coup and lost everything, so we have to use all our sneaky skills and supernatural powers to take back the city of Dunwall. It’s a really cool steampunk world, and you get to choose who you play as, which is a nice change!

Pascal portrays Paolo, the head of the Howler Gang in the city of Karnaca. Paolo wants to make Karnaca a better place, and while his intentions are good, he often uses harsh methods – like battling the ruling Overseers and controlling food supplies to get what he wants.

9. Fallout: New Vegas

The Definitive Sci-Fi Western

From the very beginning, The Mandalorian series and movie were created as space westerns – blending classic cowboy themes with the Star Wars universe. And if you’re looking for a fantastic sci-fi western game, Fallout: New Vegas is a must-play.

Inspired by early ideas for Fallout 3 from Black Isle Studios, Fallout: New Vegas puts you in the role of a courier who’s lost their memory. Set 200 years after a nuclear war in the Mojave Desert, you’ll journey to find those who attacked you and can choose to align with different groups, like Caesar’s Legion, along the way.

As a role-playing game, New Vegas lets you create almost any kind of character you imagine. You could be a heavily armored powerhouse, or a nimble gunslinger exploring the wasteland with companions like the robotic dog Rex or the Ghoul, Raul Tejada, voiced by Danny Trejo.

Okay, so New Vegas isn’t a space game like Star Wars, but trust me, it’s packed with awesome characters – people, creatures, you name it! They all have these really gripping stories that just pull you in, kind of like following the adventures of the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda.

8. Star Wars: Squadrons

Flying for the New Republic

Since The Mandalorian and Grogu takes place after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, the show explores the challenges faced by the New Republic as it tries to establish peace after the fall of the Galactic Empire. For those interested in learning more about the New Republic, the video game Star Wars: Squadrons is a great place to start.

In the first-person flight simulator Star Wars: Squadrons, players experience the conflict between the New Republic and the Empire four years after the Battle of Endor. You’ll fly as a pilot with either the New Republic’s Vanguard Squadron, working to support the Starhawk project, or the Imperial Titan Squadron, tasked with stopping them.

The single-player campaign in Squadrons is short but enjoyable. Players get to fly eight different starfighters and experience the strategies of both the Empire’s remaining forces and the New Republic’s navy. Seeing familiar, legendary pilots appear adds to the fun.

Beyond the main story, Squadrons offers a compelling PvP multiplayer mode. Players can engage in thrilling space dogfights or team up for larger Fleet Battles, where strategic squad composition – balancing fighters to counter enemy ships, both small and large – is key to victory.

7. No Man’s Sky

Exploring Alien Worlds

Similar to all the other Star Wars movies, The Mandalorian and Grogu takes viewers to many different planets, ranging from busy cities like Shakari to the wild swamps of Nal Hutta. Now, with Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky, fans can relive the feeling of discovering these strange and exciting alien worlds.

No Man’s Sky is a survival game played from both first- and third-person perspectives. It’s well-known for its vast universe of alien planets, all created using procedural generation, meaning each world is unique with its own plants, animals, and environments for players to discover and record.

As a player, I can explore these planets and collect all sorts of resources. I use those resources to build my own bases, outposts, and even spaceships! Then, I can use my ships to travel to other planets and space stations, and even fight aliens in awesome space battles. It’s all about building up and then venturing out into the galaxy!

You won’t have to venture into these alien landscapes by yourself! The game supports up to 32 players in online multiplayer, and it’s designed to work across all current gaming platforms – even virtual reality headsets.

6. The Outer Worlds

Fallout In Space

Obsidian Entertainment is famous for creating New Vegas, which many consider the best Fallout game. However, they also developed their own science fiction role-playing game series called The Outer Worlds.

Okay, so I’m playing this game, The Outer Worlds, and it’s set way in the future. Basically, huge companies run everything, and they’re the ones who started colonizing space. The whole game takes place in this system called Halcyon, which is the furthest anyone’s colonized from Earth. It’s basically owned by this mega-corp, Halcyon Holdings, and has six different planets to explore.

In this game, you play as a forgotten passenger on the colony ship Hope, working to wake up the rest of the crew and liberate the star system from the greedy HHC. You’ll explore unique planets, discover settlements with a dieselpunk aesthetic, and meet the fascinating people who live there.

While New Vegas feels more like a traditional western RPG, The Outer Worlds is a better choice for players looking for an experience similar to The Mandalorian, with its spacefaring adventures and focus on companions.

5. Starfield

A Modded Star Wars Paradise

Bethesda released the space RPG Starfield a few years ago. Although it shares some similarities with The Outer Worlds, Starfield is expected to attract more Star Wars fans, mainly because players will be able to customize the game with *Star Warsthemed modifications.

The Star Wars Genesis mod for Starfield dramatically changes the game, essentially turning it into a Star Wars experience. It replaces Starfield‘s planets with iconic locations from the films, like Coruscant, gives characters Star Warsstyle dialogue, and lets you play as various Star Wars* aliens, from Weequays to Gungans.

Players can build or buy iconic ships from the Star Wars universe, like the TIE Advanced X1, Naboo N-1 Starfighter, and the ST-70 assault ship used by Djarin, allowing them to travel between planets and engage in exciting space battles.

In the game, every enemy wears equipment that players can collect, like armor from the Bedlam Raiders in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or even a modified AT-ST from season one of The Mandalorian. This makes Starfield a great single-player RPG experience for Star Wars fans, especially if they install the Genesis mod.

4. Star Wars Outlaws

Diving into Star Wars’ Criminal Underworld

The Mandalorian and Grogu heavily feature the criminal side of the Star Wars galaxy after the events of Return of the Jedi, especially what happened to the Hutt Cartel following Jabba the Hutt’s death. If you’re interested in learning more about the different criminal groups in that galaxy, Star Wars Outlaws is a great game to play.

Star Wars Outlaws is Ubisoft’s first role-playing game set in the Star Wars galaxy. Players take on the role of Kay Vess, a young criminal trying to build a reputation in the underworld between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, with help from her companion, Nix.

In the game Outlaws, players can explore five planets from the Star Wars universe – Akiva, Cantonica, Kijima, Tatooine, and Toshara – from a third-person perspective. They’ll travel between planets on a stolen ship called the Trailblazer, and even engage in spaceship battles.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of Outlaws is its reputation system. As you play, Vess can build alliances with different criminal groups like the Hutt Cartel, Ashiga Clan, Pyke Syndicate, or Crimson Dawn. Your choices affect how these organizations view her – gaining their favor unlocks benefits, while losing it can make them hostile or cut off valuable information.

3. The Last of Us Part I

A Tragic Story of Fatherhood

Starting in the early 2010s, a popular story pattern emerged in TV and film: a tough, older man unexpectedly becomes a mentor to a young child, and both of them are transformed by the experience. Examples of this include shows like The Mandalorian and Sweet Tooth, and the movie Logan.

This storytelling idea has appeared often in video games, frequently earning praise. A standout example is The Last of Us Part I, where a devastating fungal outbreak nearly destroys humanity, turning people into zombie-like creatures.

Two decades after a devastating outbreak, players take on the role of Joel, a hardened smuggler, who reluctantly agrees to escort a young girl named Ellie across the remnants of the United States. Their journey is to reach the Fireflies, a group hoping to find a cure and save humanity.

If you’re a fan of The Mandalorian and Grogu, you might also love The Last of Us game. It served as the inspiration for the popular HBO show of the same name, which stars Pedro Pascal – the same actor who plays the Mandalorian – as the character Joel.

2. Pragmata

Hugh and Diana’s Incredible Journey

Following the huge success of The Last of Us, particularly its storytelling, many other games have started using similar themes to create more captivating narratives. God of War (2018) is a prime example, and Capcom’s Pragmata is the latest game to follow this trend.

Okay, so the game drops you into the near future. We’ve found this crazy material on the moon called lunum – basically, it can copy anything. I play as Hugh Williams, an engineer working for Delphi Corp, and I’m sent to the Cradle outpost on the moon when they suddenly go silent. It’s my job to figure out what happened.

After a moonquake separates him from his team, Williams is rescued by a lifelike android named Diana (designated Pragmata D-I-0336-7). Together, they team up to explore the outpost and protect humanity from a dangerous artificial intelligence.

Fans who enjoyed the heartwarming bond between Djarin and Grogu in The Mandalorian will likely love the close, father-daughter dynamic between Williams and Diana in Pragmata. Similar to Grogu riding on Djarin’s shoulders, Diana frequently rides on Williams’ shoulders throughout the game.

1. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter

The Best Mandalorian Game To Date

As a huge Star Wars fan, I’ve always loved seeing Mandalorians in games – especially Boba Fett! But honestly, it’s rare to find a Star Wars game where Mandalorians are actually central to the story. For me, one of the best that really nails it is Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. It’s a fantastic third-person action game that puts you right in the middle of their world.

Set a decade before Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter lets you play as the famous bounty hunter Jango Fett. He’s hired by Darth Tyranus to take down the Bando Gora crime syndicate and their Force-wielding leader, Komari Vosa.

Bounty Hunter really captures the feeling of being a Mandalorian, even more than other Star Wars games. Players can take on bounties throughout the galaxy, using gadgets like a jetpack, flamethrower, and the classic WESTAR-34 blaster pistols, just like Boba Fett.

The story of Bounty Hunter shares a lot of similarities with The Mandalorian, starting with Boba Fett battling huge aliens in an arena and then clashing with Gardulla the Hutt and her krayt dragon pet.
