Regardless of its spirited appearance as an AA game, I seldom encounter such a striking similarity between the trailers and the actual game. The cinematic experience the title claims to deliver is remarkably like what one experiences when playing with the controller, and it’s skillfully done.
The game’s design, with its puzzles and instant deaths, presents not only a technical hurdle, but also a mental one. Getting comfortable with the moveset is important, but figuring out the optimal paths to carry out those moves can be an entirely different challenge.
When, following numerous tries, you finally figure out the sequence of running along walls, jumping, using grappling hooks, and dashing that lets you kill all the enemies without getting killed yourself, it’s incredibly fulfilling.
Consequently, Ghostrunner is both concise and grandiose. It’s not only enjoyable to engage with but also captivating to observe, making it relatively uncommon to find such a dual appeal in games these days.
2. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

When you pioneer a new trend, I believe there’s a unique excellence associated with it, and that’s exactly how I view Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time – as a trailblazing masterpiece.
This game didn’t have a lot of popularity in the 3D platforming genre at that point, but much like Ninja Gaiden, it boldly introduced fresh concepts and potential within the industry through its captivating journey.
The Sands of Time stands out as an exceptional piece, surpassing even contemporary counterparts in both finesse and accuracy of its workings.

I can’t help but include Faith’s journey in numerous lists due to its exceptional quality overall. Excluding the poor combat, it’s a captivating journey from beginning to end.
Given its status as the top parkour video game, it’s only reasonable to expect it to boast exceptional wall-running mechanics. Upon playing, you quickly come to understand that this assumption is based on sound logic, as it undeniably showcases the most refined wall-running features.
The game’s immersion, level design, and setting give it an edge over its competitors. In this game, running on walls feels incredibly smooth, as if you’re living out the childhood dream of parkour without the real-life risks. That’s the charm of Mirror’s Edge.
