As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the simplistic charm of Pong to the breathtaking complexity of modern AAA titles. But there’s one thing that continues to leave me scratching my head in disbelief: the seemingly impossible achievements in video games.
Pursuing accomplishments is no joke, especially when you mix it with the rapid-fire excitement unique to first-person shooting games. This pairing is like a dream come true.
In the realm of space, there’s a vast array of imaginative accomplishments. These range from fast-paced challenges similar to speed runs, cooperative activities involving multiple players, all the way to lengthy, gradual progression akin to slow burns.
Perhaps you’re accustomed to impressive feats, but have you encountered ones that seem unjustly difficult? Let me share with you some of the toughest challenges in the First-Person Shooter (FPS) world; only the most dedicated should attempt.
On PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam, you’ll find these accomplishments with identical names on each platform.
10. Mile High Club
Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
There’s no doubt that Mile High Club is a problematic achievement for many, and it’s the only one on the list that’s considered iconic and known by the masses.
In Call of Duty 4, the campaign is outstanding. Additionally, the Mile High Club task sets players up for an exciting challenge: completing the “Mile High Club” mission within a time constraint on the Veteran difficulty level.
The rule is incredibly strict, requiring you to perfection each level without a single mistake. Memorizing enemy movements becomes crucial, as any slip-up would be like a missed step in a carefully choreographed dance routine using weapons.
It requires multiple tries, but with practice, it’s quite feasible to accomplish this. The Mile High Club is included in the list because it symbolizes a mark of pride among Call of Duty veterans. There are other more difficult accomplishments, yet it’s undoubtedly the most renowned.
9. Personal Decorator
Call of Duty Black Ops 3
In simpler terms, “Black Ops 3” could be considered the top choice among the “Call of Duty” series for those seeking a Zombie mode experience. Additionally, it offers challenging Achievements that are designed to test the mettle of dedicated players.
In simpler terms, a Personal Decorator’s prize is given once all Decorations have been accumulated. However, it’s challenging to gather these Decorations because they are hard to find, and some can only be obtained by achieving difficult tasks such as clearing every level on realistic difficulty settings.
You might think some other first-person shooter games have more difficult campaigns, but playing Black Ops 3 on Realistic mode truly tests your patience. Additionally, amassing numerous kills presents another formidable challenge for you.
The Personal Decorator boasts an unexpectedly impressive completion rate of 6.1% as per Steam, indicating that Call of Duty players are significantly more committed than I am in terms of gameplay.
8. …Becomes The Master
Titanfall 2
If you thought Mile High Club was unfair, you’ve not seen anything yet.
…In Titanfall 2, your role as the Master requires you to complete a rigorous training challenge and finish among the top 3 on the scoreboard. In essence, this implies that you have to master the course within 32.90 seconds, and those crucial tenths of a second hold significant importance.
In order to excel in your gameplay, strive for a seamless performance that masterfully incorporates the famous wall-running techniques, simultaneously keeping an eye on your loadout management. The Arc Grenades are indispensable, and if you’re aiming for the Achievement, don’t forget to pick up the hidden EPG-1 gun early on in the game.
The great news is that even though you need to perform perfectly, you just have to do it for a short 30 seconds. You’ll swiftly learn every enemy’s spawn location, master wall jumps in the gauntlet, and the only challenge left is execution.
7. Fatal Florist
The Finals
I love gimmicky Achievements, and The Finals is home to one of my favorites.
To achieve the Fatal Florist Award, it’s necessary to overcome your adversary using a floral pot. Fortunately, handling and tossing objects becomes effortless in The Finals.
The unfortunate truth is that the flower pot has minimal destructive power, so it’s unlikely you could defeat an armed adversary just by pursuing them with a piece of terracotta.
As a gamer, I find myself needing to prepare for Fatal Florist. I could strategically position myself at a mine or hang out in bustling zones, waiting for an opportunity to snipe a straggler. With a touch of patience and by setting up a clever trap, I might just strike it lucky and earn that one-of-a-kind Achievement.
There are numerous factors to take into account, and it might be challenging to make this function effectively against a skilled competitor or team. Fatal Florist, after all, has a relatively low success rate of just 0.3% on Steam for a good reason, but with determination, it can still be accomplished.
6. Legendary Hunter of the Sea of Thieves
Sea of Thieves
In the realm of video games, Sea of Thieves presents a one-of-a-kind blend of Player versus Player (PvP) and Player versus Environment (PvE) encounters that you won’t find replicated elsewhere. Over the course of several years, Steam reports that I have invested approximately 1200 hours into the game, yet surprisingly, I haven’t unlocked that specific achievement.
As a dedicated sea voyager, I found myself on the quest to unlock the prestigious “Legendary Hunter of the Sea of Thieves” accolade. This coveted achievement was hidden behind an in-game honor bestowed upon those who successfully complete a total of 57 top-tier Commendations for the esteemed Hunter’s Call faction.
Advancing the Hunter’s Call requires considerable effort, primarily by bringing numerous fish and gemstones to their designated locations. To unlock this achievement, you must complete a checklist of tasks, which includes finishing 50 quests specifically related to fishing.
In the game Sea of Thieves, the fishing minigame is quite enjoyable, yet other players pose constant peril. It’s effortless to squander hours of advancement in a PvP skirmish, and there are numerous aspects that lie beyond your command.
5. Throw Hammer or Run
Hunt Showdown
In Hunt: Showdown, the achievement titled “Throw Hammer or Run” seems simple at first glance, but once you recall that the Baiyou region is teeming with some of the most intense competitors in the First-Person Shooter community, it becomes quite a challenge.
To achieve this uncommon feat, you should aim to strike an adversary forcefully with a sledgehammer. However, keep in mind that the sledgehammer might not be lethal in one blow. Additionally, you’ll need to have the Tomahawk Trait equipped before you can even attempt such a maneuver.
As a fervent enthusiast of this audio-centric game, I can’t help but relish the stealthy approach towards an injured adversary. The thrill lies in creeping up undetected and positioning myself for a precision throw of my trusty hammer.
I find it thrilling to complete achievements that involve tricky tasks such as throwing a hammer or running, like gimmick Achievement. With patience and timing, they can be accomplished when the right opportunity arises.
4. Mein Leben
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
Accomplishments from mastering challenging game levels aren’t exactly novel, but “Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus” raises the bar significantly in this regard.
Your life serves as the highest difficulty level, a challenge that’s unlocked upon completing the game for the first time. The gameplay resembles the toughest mode, “I Am Death Incarnate,” with a unique twist: you must conquer the game in one continuous session.
As a dedicated player, I must share that the game doesn’t allow for saving or checkpoints, which means if you perish, you’ll be immediately sent back to the beginning. However, there’s a bit of a workaround if you’re chasing an achievement: you can technically “cheese” it by pausing the game and leaving your console on.
Still, it doesn’t make the challenge much easier, as Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a tough game regardless.
3. LASO Master
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
LASO Master amuses me since it’s built around a custom ruleset developed by fans, which increases the challenge level in the Halo campaigns.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve come to know that LASO means “Every Skull On” in the gaming world. It stands for the most challenging setting, where Legendary difficulty meets skull-enhanced gameplay. The skulls here aren’t just decorative; they bring on modifications such as stripping down my HUD and beefing up enemy health, making every encounter a real test of skill and patience.
Simultaneously activating every Skull in a game can be truly terrifying, especially during Halo 2 gameplay, and it’s only by completing each campaign under these specific conditions that you can achieve the title of LASO Master.
Needless to say, this challenge is impossible without surgical knowledge of every level and optimal strategies. Oh, and Skulls like Iron exist that send you back to the start of the level if you die as a solo player. Ouch!
2. Number One
Quake 4
For a completionist, online accomplishments can be a constant source of frustration; however, Quake 4 disregards typical grievances and instead delivers an experience that is far more malevolent towards its players.
As a dedicated gamer, conquering the Number One spot is no small feat. It requires ascending to the summit of a particular online leaderboard, a position that’s not just among the top 10 or even top 100 players, but the highest-ranked player in the entire world. That’s right, you’ve got to be the absolute best!
Back then, Number One was created during a time when game developers were still learning to design engaging challenges suitable for trophies and gamerscores.
Among my most significant accomplishments is placing within the top 10 on a dynamic scoreboard for the independent video game, “Pix the Cat.” Compared to the difficulty of mastering “Quake 4,” this feat seems almost effortless for me.
1. Doom + Doom 2
Untouchable
The set containing both “Doo” and “Doom 2”, referred to as the collection, offers the ultimate gaming experience for these timeless shooter games. It includes a suitable number of contemporary upgrades that will captivate novice players, while maintaining the challenging gameplay that experienced gamers appreciate.
The Untouchable Achievement is a great example of the latter, tasking players with beating eight levels on the Ultra-Violence difficulty in sequence. You’re not allowed to die and must finish every level within “par time.”
For beginners, the term ‘par time’ implies familiarity with the game’s stages and a quick pace to reach the end. The ‘sequential’ aspect of Untouchable increases its difficulty because it prevents you from simply mastering the initial stage over and over again. With the eight-level stipulation, you need to play for an extended duration without any mistakes.
Regardless of your health condition, you may find yourself compelled to adopt an aggressive strategy if you wish to meet the time limit. A few unfortunate missteps could potentially derail your efforts.
In simpler terms, to earn the title of “Invincible,” you need to exhibit the skills required to conquer the legendary Doom games, which are known for their challenging, retro-style gameplay.
