Summary
- There are plenty of deserving victims in the Assassin’s Creed series, with evil characters like Cesare Borgia and Crawford Starrick meeting their end.
- Gamilat, Il Carnefice, and Al Mualim were all ruthless individuals who faced justice at the hands of Brotherhood assassins.
- Characters like Madeleine de L’Isle, Juan Borgia the Elder, and Francois-Thomas Germain met their demise for their manipulative and power-hungry ways.
In the vast Assassin’s Creed saga, the Assassins and the Templars have engaged in numerous confrontations, often resulting in the elimination of historical antagonists. Some targets that players are required to eliminate may appear only tangentially connected to the Templar scheme, or their roles become more sympathetic as the narrative develops.
Nevertheless, a large number of the deaths appear justified, as some truly abhorrent individuals meet their end through acts of retribution and righteousness. Here is a list of those who deserved their fate the most, according to the Assassins’ Brotherhood.
In this version, I aimed to make the language more conversational while maintaining the original meaning.
1. Silvestro Sabbatini
Slave Trader Templar

- Appears in: Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
- Assassinated by: Ezio Auditore da Firenze
Silvestro served under Cesare Borgia within the ranks of the Templar Order. During this time, Sabbatini engaged in a sinister practice: he abducted common people residing in Rome, selling these innocent individuals into slavery across different continents.
In the course of liberating a band of enslaved women and kids, Ezio crossed paths with Silvestro Sabbatini, whom he ultimately ended up eliminating. Given that Silvestro was involved in the trafficking of people into slavery and served his Borgia superiors, it was only fitting that he met his end in such a manner.
2. Cesare Borgia
Power Hungry Captain-General

- Appears in: Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
- Assassinated by: Ezio Auditore da Firenze
In Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, the primary villain, Cesare, skillfully exploits Ezio’s reluctance towards senseless revenge. He ruthlessly massacres Monteriggioni’s populace and displays Mario Auditore’s decapitated head on a spike. Throughout his actions, Cesare demonstrates a lack of conscience, using these brutal tactics solely to advance his personal ambition.
Portraying him as someone who oppressed the Roman populace, engaged in an illicit relationship with his sister, murdered his own father, and ordered the slaughter of countless innocents paints a picture of a man truly deserving of the Brotherhood’s wrath.
3. Madeleine de L’Isle
Head Of An Elaborate Slave Trade

- Appears in: Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation
- Assassinated by: Aveline de Grandpre
Madeleine was a cunning Templar who climbed the ranks to become Master Templar by employing intricate strategies and often taking advantage of those she encountered. Desiring to recruit her stepdaughter Aveline into their order, she sought information on her when she learned that Aveline had taken up assassin work. In an attempt to keep the Templars informed about Aveline, Madeleine established a vast system of slaves in Chichen Itza.
In a devious plot, Madeleine managed to persuade her stepdaughter that she was liberating slaves, all while secretly poisoning her husband. This deception ultimately led to his demise. Pretending to care for Aveline in her final moments, she was slain by the very person she had betrayed.
4. Charles Lee
Briefly Grand Master of the Templars

- Appears in: Assassin’s Creed III
- Assassinated by: Connor Kenway
Charles Lee, primarily known for his military service, later became a member of the Templar Order, led by Grandmaster Haytham Kenway. Throughout his military career, he took actions that sparked debate and incited numerous conflicts, even participating in the Boston Massacre alongside his fellow Templars. A failed assassination attempt on George Washington led to Lee serving under the president, consistently creating tension and potentially threatening his superior’s position.
1. In the moment of his capture, he cheerfully divulged information that he believed would lead to more losses for Washington.
2. After Haytham was slain by assassin Connor Kenway, Lee took over as Grand Master and swore to eliminate Connor and destroy his family and cherished possessions.
3. Ruthless in his pursuit of power and often exploding with violent fits, Charles Lee proved a worthy final target for Connor’s revenge quest.
5. Gamilat
Making Innocents Into Martyrs

- Appears in: Assassin’s Creed: Origins – The Hidden Ones DLC
- Assassinated by: Bayek of Siwa
In the main game of “Assassin’s Creed: Origins,” Gamilat is referenced, but it’s not until the expansion pack, “Hidden Ones,” that he makes a tangible appearance. During this DLC, we find Gamilat leading an army in opposition to Roman imperialism. He collaborated closely with the Hidden Ones, an early faction of the Assassin Brotherhood. Due to their small numbers, Gamilat resorted to disguising his followers among ordinary citizens, inciting large-scale conflicts and causing civilian casualties in the process.
According to him, this action led to the making of martyrs and attracted more individuals to oppose the invaders. However, there’s no denying that Gamilat was responsible for the loss of many innocent lives. Upon learning about Gamilat’s actions, Bayek confronted the rebel, and on his deathbed, Gamilat acknowledged that his actions were wicked and wished Bayek success.
6. Crawford Starrick
Merciless Businessman

- Appears in: Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate
- Assassinated by: Jacob and Evie Frye
In the game “Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate,” Crawford Starrick, a prominent figure in industry, played the role of the primary antagonist. In his younger days, he mastered the art of manipulating and controlling others, which propelled him to prominence in the railroad sector and earned him the title of Grand Master within the British Templar order. He orchestrated the mass production of an addictive medicinal syrup that made individuals more susceptible to his influence and sickness, distributing it throughout London to solidify his power.
He dedicated his life to obtaining the Shroud of Eden secretly stashed in London, with ambitions to exploit it further to control the masses and remain a covert ruler over the British Empire. However, his plans were cut short when twins Jacob and Evie Frye ended his life after he obtained the artifact.
7. Jack The Ripper
Notorious Serial Killer

- Appears in: Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate – Jack the Ripper DLC
- Assassinated by: Evie Frye
In the universe of Assassin’s Creed, it is implied that Crawford Starrick’s associates were responsible for the death of Jack the Ripper’s mother. After enduring mistreatment in an asylum, Starrick was swiftly inducted into the Assassin Brotherhood. However, his warped mindset enabled him to seize control from assassin Jacob Frye within the Brotherhood and establish himself as a tyrannical ruler over Whitechapel. Under his rule, Whitechapel descended into chaos, becoming a hub for crime, prostitution, and violence. Jack the Ripper, under Starrick’s influence, would abduct innocents to manipulate them for blackmail purposes against anyone he desired.
Initially, the women Jack murdered were actually disguised assassins. However, as events unfolded, Jack gained notoriety as a global serial killer, particularly for his gruesome mutilation and killing of sex workers in London. Interestingly, Evie Frye had an opportunity to put an end to this madman’s rampage by leading her to him.
8. Juan Borgia The Elder
Indulgent Borgia Banker

- Appears in: Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
- Assassinated by: Ezio Auditore da Firenze
Under the authority of his uncle, Juan labored in unison with his cousin Cesare, aiming to seize absolute power over Rome. Later, when given the reins of Rome’s finances, Juan would host extravagant events at the cost of the Roman populace. During one such offensive on Monteriggioni, Juan captured Caterina Sforza and retained her custody. With his lavish lifestyle, Ezio eventually tracked him down in Rome, where he was orchestrating a sophisticated, pagan soiree that offered guests ample opportunity for immoral behavior with minimal repercussions.
In this scenario, Juan publicly choked a high-class woman to demonstrate his power, confident that he wouldn’t face repercussions. However, Ezio eliminated him to disrupt the Borgias’ financial empire. Interestingly, among the Brotherhood’s victims, Juan is one of the few who died without any remorse and instead held a sense of satisfaction for his lifetime achievements.
9. Il Carnefice
Executing With Pleasure and Pride

- Appears in: Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
- Assassinated by: Ezio Auditore da Firenze
Il Carnefice, one of the least developed characters, is primarily characterized by a litany of his brutal acts. At Cesare Borgia’s behest, he ruthlessly executed innocent people to instill fear among Romans. He found pleasure in each murder he committed for his superiors. Furthermore, he would leave his victims hanging as a grim reminder, and threatened the families of those who dared interfere with their loved ones’ remains, warning them of similar fates.
Ezio encountered “The Butcher,” boasting about his slaughters, and ended his life before he could cause further suffering in Rome. Notably, the Templars from Abstergo employed a reenactment of Ezio’s memories in the Animus to instill enjoyment for killing in their trainees.
10. Francois-Thomas Germain
Templar Reformist

- Appears in: Assassin’s Creed: Unity
- Assassinated by: Arno Dorian
Francois-Thomas Germain employed the French Revolution to assert control over the French populace. The objective of the Templar Order was to instigate chaos and ensure the people would never rebel again in future. In pursuit of ruling with a piece of Eden, he even restricted food supplies to Parisians, inciting them to execute the king.
He sought to influence where mankind was heading as a collective. Cunning and devious, Germain orchestrated his own demise and rose through the ranks of the Templar order. His machinations and the murder of Elise de la Serre ultimately led to his downfall at the hands of Arno Dorian, Elise’s lover and an assassin. In his final breaths, Germain revealed to Arno that his scheme had succeeded and the transformations he envisioned were already unfolding.
