10 Strategy Games You Can Actually Finish In 20 Minutes

Introduction

Let’s face it, most of us aren’t teenagers anymore. It can be tough to admit, but that’s life! We’re juggling careers, families, and all the everyday adult tasks – grocery shopping, commuting, laundry, and more. Time is precious, so when you finally have a few free moments – maybe after changing a diaper or while waiting for dinner to cook, during a lunch break, or between tasks – these 10 strategy games are ideal for a quick gaming fix. They offer engaging gameplay with meaningful choices, are highly replayable, and feature relatively short missions, keeping your mind sharp.

Looking for strategy games you can enjoy in short bursts? You don’t need hours to have fun with this genre! And if you like this article, be sure to check out my other lists – I’ve got recommendations for everything from new indie titles to classic real-time strategy games.

10 – Grit & Valor – 1949

If you enjoy quick, strategic games that are easy to pick up but still challenging, I recommend checking out Grit & Valor – 1949. Missions are short – usually under five minutes, excluding boss battles – but require careful planning and smart use of your units. The game focuses on positioning, knowing when to deploy your mechs, and building a strong, lasting team. It’s a streamlined experience with simple goals and plenty of replay value. I even described it as a perfect, minimalist strategy game for when you have a little free time.

9 – Mini Motorways

I’ve been a fan of Mini Motorways ever since it launched in 2021, and I keep it installed on all my devices. It’s perfect for short, satisfying gaming sessions – usually under 10 minutes – whenever I need a quick break. The game is simple: you connect houses and shops of the same color using roads, roundabouts, and other tools. If traffic gets too bad, the game ends. It’s incredibly easy to learn, and each map is randomly generated, keeping the gameplay fresh and interesting. You’ll constantly discover new and better ways to manage traffic and improve your score. It’s easily one of my favorite games.

8 – Thronefall

Thronefall is a fast-paced strategy game where you build and defend your city in quick, bite-sized rounds. It combines city-building with resource management and tactical battles, all designed to be completed in just a few minutes. You’ll need to carefully choose how to develop your city and set up your defenses, but the game remains easy to learn and play. Later levels can get challenging, but that’s part of the fun! It’s currently highly rated on Steam with a 96% positive review score, making it one of the platform’s top games.
