10 Supporting Characters Fans Want to See in Red Dead Redemption 3!

Although the central character for a hypothetical “Red Dead Redemption 3” is yet to be determined, and might be a new figure not introduced in earlier games such as Arthur Morgan was in “RDR2”, there are several secondary characters who left a lasting impression in “Red Dead Redemption” and “Red Dead Redemption 2”. If the game ever materializes, these characters could significantly influence the storyline of “Red Dead Redemption 3”.

In “Red Dead Redemption 2”, there are numerous secondary characters whose stories could benefit from more exploration. This opens up an exciting possibility for “Red Dead Redemption 3” to reintroduce these characters in a sequel, set either before or after the events of the first game (1907 or post-1914). This extension of the timeline could add depth and more narrative arcs to the main character.

Spoilers ahead for Red Dead Redemption & Red Dead Redemption 2!

8. Josiah Trelawny

One of the Very Best Scammers Who Just Can’t Quit

Following the disbandment of the Van der Linde gang, Trelawny probably made it back unscathed to his family – wife and two children – in their modest Saint Denis dwelling. Yet, it seems that Trelawny can’t quite break free from this lifestyle, and despite enduring gunfire, beatings, and near-death experiences for the gang, he may be primed for more trickery.

Trelawny finds satisfaction in his lifestyle, finding it difficult to resist, despite the blameless and pure life he has at home. Though he’s not a murderer, he’s a burglar and swindler, leaving one curious about the mischief he’s likely caused in “Red Dead Redemption 3“.

7. Guido Martelli

An Italian Mob Boss That Shows a Shift from Outlaws to Crime Syndicates

Following Angelo Bronte’s demise, Guido Martelli rose to power within the Saint Denis mafia, intensifying criminal activities and allegedly increasing corrupt payments to law enforcement officials. Now that Guido Martelli wields such power, it is reasonable to assume he harbors grudges, particularly towards the Van der Linde gang and their remnants for the lives they took in 1899.

Presenting Guido Martelli as an adversary serves a dual purpose: it highlights the potential corruption of Saint Denis, and it allows players to experience a contemporary grudge. As the boundaries between lawlessness and organized crime become increasingly indistinct at the turn of the 20th century, this dynamic adds intrigue to the storyline.

6. Black Belle

A Veteran Gunslinger Who Never Stops Running

In a single Stranger Mission, Black Belle might have appeared as a legendary gunslinger from an old era, but she certainly made a lasting impact. This elusive female outlaw is pursued by bounty hunters and law enforcement, her dangerous nature further fueled by her wild spirit that thrives on the excitement of the Wild West – even though the Wild West itself seems to be under control at this time.

Exploring the later years of Black Belle’s lively persona could offer an interesting perspective, revealing any remaining fight within her. It also presents an opportunity to depict whether she’ll meet her end as an outlaw or as an elderly woman who is no longer capable of wielding a rifle or riding a horse into the sunset.

5. Reverend Swanson

A Minister Who Can Instill Goodness in Those Seeking Redemption

Reverend Swanson’s association with the Van der Linde gang proved to be an unwholesome period in his life. Despite finding pleasure in the company and work, his vices became excessively corrupting, causing him to neglect his religious obligations towards God. Morphine and alcohol had a strong grip on Swanson, as if they were demonic entities themselves. However, when he successfully overcame his addiction, it marked a fresh start for the reverend.

After parting ways with the Van der Linde gang, Swanson relocated to New York and assumed the role of a minister. Since it’s unlikely we’ll encounter him again, particularly in an industrial metropolis like this one, there remains a possibility he could travel by train across the country to consult with a fresh outlaw who might benefit from his spiritual advice.

4. Rains Fall

The Chief of a Once Great Tribe

The narrative of Rain Fall centers around themes of sorrow and mistreatment. His community was subjected to mental and physical torment by the U.S. Government, forced off their land, with his wife and sons killed during a futile struggle. Remarkably, Rain Fall survives, carrying on to honor his son, Eagle Flies, and safeguard what remains of his people in Canada.

It’d be intriguing if we had the opportunity to encounter Rains Fall, who annually travels from Canada to New Hanover to pay his respects at his son’s grave, in the storyline of the upcoming game Red Dead Redemption 3. In this scenario, our new outlaw character might learn about Rains Fall’s hardships and pick up a few valuable moral lessons along the way.

3. Sadie Adler

A Bounty Hunter with a Death Wish

Sadie Adler’s life was cruelly taken by the O’Driscolls when they demolished her home and murdered her spouse, leaving her a mournful and vengeful woman who now spends her days detached from the Van der Linde gang as a relentless bounty hunter. Rather than having an affinity for upholding justice, she finds pleasure in the prospect of engaging in a shootout that could lead to her demise.

In every prize Sadie gathers, one senses her shortcomings and melancholy; her longing for death is concerning, yet seemingly unnoticed by John Marston. Perhaps encountering another outlaw, a new bounty, or an unexpected discovery might fulfill her desires, or even reveal something she was previously unaware of desiring.

2. Mother Superior Calderon

A Nun with Concrete Morals and Understanding

In the game “Red Dead Redemption 2”, Sister Calderon is portrayed as Mother Superior Calderon when John Marston visits Mexico. This character, who isn’t part of the main gang, is one of the few that reappears between the games. Given her role, it seems fitting that she delves deeper into religious discourse and offers care to the protagonist.

Sister Superior Calderon consistently offers wise words, and she skillfully steered both John and Arthur on individual occasions, never swaying them towards extremes of purity or impurity, thereby portraying her as a compassionate confidante.

1. Jack Marston

The Last Surviving Son of the Van der Linde Gang

In a potential Red Dead Redemption 3 scenario, it could be logically fitting for Jack Marston to take the lead role if the game is set post-1914. However, given that the Wild West was mostly settled by then, it seems improbable for a game to delve that deep into the timeline. Yet, there exists a small gap between 1911 and 1914 that could offer intriguing content related to Jack Marston; however, his role as the protagonist might be questionable during this period.

Instead of experiencing Jack Marston’s story from a first-person perspective, we could explore it through a second-person perspective. In this scenario, players would take on the role of a character who encounters Jack and witnesses his transformation into an outlaw. This protagonist would have opportunities to interact with Jack and learn about the tragic events that led him to kill the retired Edgar Ross, providing insight into the grief that shaped Jack’s destiny.
