This release was a significant milestone for the series, as some devoted fans consider “Civilization 4” as having perfectly encapsulated the original formula. I’ve got to admit, the mind-boggling number of hours played has left me questioning whether one person could have been responsible for such a long gaming session. You see, back in March 2024, Steam introduced their Families game-sharing feature, allowing access from multiple devices. This could mean that several players were taking turns on the same account before then.

Moreover, it’s been suggested that the games might have been left running without someone actively playing them. However, even if multiple people were leaving it open in the background for 10 years, accumulating 50,000 hours of gameplay would still be quite an achievement!
