Okay, so it looks like 100 Thieves might be getting back into Counter-Strike after a five-year break, which is huge news! I’m hearing they’ve signed rain, a really well-known and experienced player who used to be with FaZe Clan. This could be a big deal for the scene if it’s true.
In 2020, 100 Thieves left the Counter-Strike scene, explaining that the esports industry felt too unstable. Years later, Nadeshot, who founded 100 Thieves, stated he wouldn’t enter esports again if he could start over.
Is 100 Thieves Coming Back to Counter-Strike?
I’m so hyped to hear the rumors that 100 Thieves is getting back into CS2! Apparently, they’ve signed rain, a super experienced and well-known player from the Counter-Strike scene, to lead their new team. And it sounds like they’re also bringing in some talent from GamerLegion. It’s been a long time – I remember when 100 Thieves last had a CS team way back in 2019, so this is really exciting news for a fan like me!
Havard ‘rain’ Nygaard is an exceptional leader and one of the most experienced players in Counter-Strike. He’s been competing professionally since 2013, when Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was released, and was a key member of FaZe Clan for nearly ten years.
In December 2025, esports pro rain unexpectedly left FaZe Clan shortly before reaching his ten-year anniversary with the team. This followed a decision by the organization to bench him.
Okay, so this is tough to share. After over nine years with our Counter-Strike team – 3541 days, to be exact – we’ve decided to move rain to the bench. It wasn’t an easy call, and honestly, it really sucks. Håvard is still an incredible player, and he’s definitely not done with his career. We’re so thankful for all the amazing moments we’ve shared, and he’ll always be a legend to all of us here at FaZe. ❤️

This deal could be a big win for 100 Thieves, a leading name in esports. However, the organization has faced challenges recently, with their VALORANT team underperforming through 2025 and plans to leave the League of Legends scene after the World Championship.
The LA Thieves, representing 100 Thieves, are building a very strong team for the 2026 Call of Duty League season.
As a big 100 Thieves fan, I’m really hoping they get back into Counter-Strike, and I think bringing in rain as their leader would be amazing! I’d love to hear what others think – come chat about it with me on the TopMob Discord server!
