A dedicated player of The Sims 4 recently shared a heartbreaking story online: the accidental loss of a family they had been building over many in-game generations. Unfortunately, this isn’t uncommon for Sims 4 players, as the game has been known for bugs and technical problems throughout its ten years of existence.
As a huge Sims fan, I’ve been really worried about save corruption lately. It’s been a major issue, especially with Sims 4, and it seems like the For Rent expansion back in 2023 really brought it to the forefront – so many people lost all their hard work! Even now, in October 2025, EA is still trying to figure out what’s going on with these save errors. It’s frustrating because, as I’ve seen on TikTok and elsewhere, players are still losing their games, whether it’s connected to that expansion or just happening randomly. It’s a real tragedy when you put so much time into your Sims families and then lose everything!
20-Generation Sims 4 Family Gets Wiped Out in New Update
On November 2, 2025, a TikTok user named amsextonn shared a video announcing that her Sims 4 family had ‘died’ after playing for nearly twenty generations. The video concludes with a look at a special cake created to remember the family, which reads “RIP Solis Family.”
It’s not surprising that many TikTok users quickly responded to amsextonn’s post with supportive comments. Some made light of the situation with dark humor, while others noted how strange the custom cake was—something amsextonn probably already realized. Many other users shared amsextonn’s frustration and expressed their disappointment with EA, the company that makes The Sims 4.
In the video, amsextonn looks devastated and very upset. While it’s likely exaggerated for comedic effect—she knows the Solis family isn’t real—her sadness might be genuine. Twenty generations of gameplay is a huge accomplishment, and shows a level of commitment most Sims 4 players wouldn’t reach. It’s understandable she’d be heartbroken to lose so much progress. Hopefully, there’s a way to recover from this setback.
