20 hours of Elden Ring lore videos are being crammed into one big book by Souls YouTuber VaatiVidya

Like a famous tweet about FromSoftware games says, their stories don’t need complex plots. Even something as simple as a character uttering a single, mysterious line – like a dying warrior whispering ‘Zanzibart… forgive me’ – can spark hours of discussion and analysis online.

When they mentioned “a bunch of YouTubers,” they were primarily referring to VaatiVidya, who is widely known for his in-depth explanations of the stories behind FromSoftware games. He’s been unraveling these complex narratives since the original Dark Souls, and he’s still dissecting Elden Ring. Now, he’s compiling all the scripts from his videos over the last three years into a book, taking his work to the next level.

Lore Bound: Elden Ring Explained is a large book packed with the content of 20 hours of video, featuring original artwork—including pieces from Vaati’s well-known videos. While not officially licensed, it’s the most comprehensive guide to the Elden Ring story you’ll likely find.

In a recent YouTube post, Vaati announced he’s compiling all his knowledge from Elden Ring, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and Nightreign into a single book. He plans to revise his previous video scripts, add new artwork, and make sure the book is both easy to understand and enjoyable to read.

So, I’m really excited because Vaati and a bunch of other YouTubers are going to break down everything about Elden Ring and the Nightreign lore. It’s not just going to be Vaati’s take either, which is awesome! He says working on this book is actually giving him a big push to finally finish all his Elden Ring videos – he wants to make sure everything is super thorough and covers all the details. Basically, this book is helping him get motivated to make the best videos possible.

A sample chapter of Nightreign is available on the publisher’s website. The full book isn’t expected to be released until next year. You can pre-order the Deluxe Edition with a magnetic clasp for $95, the softcover for $42, or the ebook for $18.

He says this book will be his last major work, and he’s confident it will be something special.
