2K Hires Former Respawn Executive Producer To Lead Project Ethos

Development on Project Ethos is back on track! 2K has appointed Ben Brinkman, formerly of Respawn Entertainment, as the new studio head at 31st Union to lead the game’s creation, according to Variety.

Brinkman is taking over as the 31st Union president after Michael Condrey was dismissed in February.

So, 2K’s president, David Ismailer, sent out a memo – Variety got a copy – and he said the feedback we’ve all been giving about Project Ethos has been really helpful. He actually called it ‘enlightening,’ which is cool to hear!

The initial feedback confirmed that the game had potential as a unique shooter, but also highlighted areas for improvement. It became clear that the game needed a stronger, more defined personality. We’ve been really impressed with the progress made since then. You clearly listened to the feedback and completely revamped Project ETHOS, creating a new vision that we believe will finally deliver the experience players are hoping for.

We’re becoming increasingly confident in the success of Project ETHOS. To build on the great work everyone has done, we’re pleased to announce that Ben Brinkman will be joining us as the new Studio Head of 31st Union, starting Monday, October 20th.

So, I just heard that 31st Union brought on a new executive producer, and it’s actually someone I know from the industry! This guy, Brinkman, was a big part of Apex Legends at Respawn since 2020. Before that, he spent years at Activision and Treyarch working on Call of Duty – like, since 2008! He’s a total veteran, though; I remember hearing about him back in the late 90s when he was at EA and 2K. He’s been making games for a long time!
