Players of the new fighting game, 2XKO, are frustrated with the high price of a special visual effect that appears when a character is defeated – it costs more than some character outfits. 2XKO is a major new release from Riot Games, the creators of the popular game League of Legends. Riot first revealed the game, originally called “Project L,” back in 2019, and it’s finally entering early access in October 2025. However, the game’s launch hasn’t been entirely smooth.

When it launched in October, 2XKO generated a lot of excitement and quickly became a contender for Best Fighting Game at the 2025 Game Awards, though it ultimately lost to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. However, 2026 brought challenges for the game, including layoffs within the development team, sparking worries about its future. Adding to the problems, fans have been upset about the cost of in-game cosmetic items, and a recent microtransaction caused particular backlash.

2XKO Fans Are Not Happy With Cosmetic Pricing

The in-game store for 2XKO is currently selling a special finishing move that many players are upset about due to its price. For a limited time, players can buy the animated “KO” Finisher for 1,500 KO Points, which costs around $15. One player, SaikouKiller, noted on the game’s subreddit that this Finisher is actually more expensive than some character skins, like the Aureate Warwick skin which costs 1,200 KO Points. Unlike the Finisher, skins also include extra items like Chromas, Stickers, and Player Cards.
