2XKO Officially Reveals Season 1 Champion

Riot Games is starting Season 1 of 2XKO with the addition of Caitlyn Kiramman as a playable character. Players may have noticed the unusual launch schedule, which displays two dates. After several years in development – originally announced as Project L in 2019 – 2XKO became available in Early Access for PC users in October 2025. The initial launch featured 11 characters, and more will be added with each new season, with the latest character arriving soon.

Inspired by the hugely popular game League of Legends, 2XKO lets fans experience the world of Runeterra in a new way, even if they don’t enjoy the main League of Legends game. 2XKO is a team-based fighting game where two players control a team of two characters. You can play in the classic 2v2 format, but 2XKO also lets you customize your team with special rules called Fuses. For example, the Juggernaut Fuse makes one character much stronger but removes the ability to call in assists. While 2XKO doesn’t have as many playable characters as some other fighting games, the characters it does have are interesting, and more are added regularly.

2XKO Season 1 Launch Times

  • January 20-21, 2026

Originally planned for PC in 2025, Riot Games’ 2XKO will also be available on consoles. The game will launch on January 20-21, 2026, depending on your location. The launch will begin on January 20th at 5 PM Pacific Time. This means players on the East Coast of the US can start playing at 8 PM Eastern Time. Players in locations like London, Paris, and Tokyo will be able to access the game on January 21st due to time differences.

The first phase of 2XKO introduced two new playable characters, Teemo and Warwick, and adjusted the balance of existing characters. Now, for Season 1, Riot Games has announced Caitlyn Kiramman, the Sheriff of Piltover, will be joining the fight. Caitlyn is a long-range marksman who focuses on controlling space, so players will probably want to team her up with a character who excels at closing the distance, like Vi, given that 2XKO is a 2v2 tag fighter.

Caitlyn is a popular character from the game League of Legends, and many fans will also recognize her from the Netflix animated series Arcane. The initial trailer shows her classic League of Legends design, but players will be able to unlock an alternate outfit featuring a bodysuit, ponytail, and mask. Although the trailer didn’t include her Arcane look, since other characters like Ekko, Vi, and Jynx have outfits from the show, it’s likely Caitlyn will get one too in the future.

Caitlyn’s gameplay revolves around keeping enemies at a distance thanks to her long-range hextech rifle. She’ll likely be a great support character, using her rifle to shoot from afar, both on the ground and in the air. She can also set traps, like bolas and bear traps, to catch opponents off guard. Despite focusing on long-range attacks, she’s surprisingly mobile with abilities that let her quickly move and dodge.
