Electronic Arts (EA) plans to discontinue online services for at least three games in January 2026. EA maintains a list of games scheduled for shutdown, allowing players time to enjoy their online features before they’re permanently removed. While fans are often disappointed to see games disappear, EA does provide advance warning about these changes.
In 2025, Electronic Arts (EA) discontinued online support for 23 of its games, including popular mobile titles like The Simpsons: Tapped Out and major sports franchises like Madden NFL and FIFA. EA plans to continue this process in 2026, with at least three more games losing online access in January.
More EA games might be discontinued in January 2026, but right now, players need to be aware of three upcoming shutdowns. BioWare’s Anthem will no longer be playable after January 12th, followed by The Sims Mobile on January 24th, and NBA Live 19 on January 30th. Additionally, Real Racing 3 will be taken offline on March 19th.
List of EA Games Shutting Down in 2026
- Anthem – January 12
- The Sims Mobile – January 24
- NBA Live 19 – January 30
- Real Racing 3 – March 19
Despite being a commercial failure as a live-service game, Anthem offered enjoyable flight and was created by BioWare, a highly respected game developer. It’s disappointing to see a BioWare game completely disappear, even though Anthem didn’t attract enough players to keep it running. Because the game requires an internet connection and doesn’t have an offline mode, it will become unplayable after January 12th.
If you already have The Sims Mobile on your device, you’ll still be able to play it. However, the game is no longer available to download. EA stopped updating The Sims Mobile in 2024 and removed it from app stores in October 2025, before completely shutting down the servers on January 24th.
Currently, NBA Live 19 is the final basketball game EA has released for consoles. Like previous NBA Live titles, it received a mixed reception, and many fans are disappointed it’s no longer being made. EA hasn’t said if they’ll create another NBA game, but they are working on a college basketball game. It remains to be seen if this new college game will fare better than NBA Live 19 and have a longer lifespan, but it will be interesting to watch its development and release.
EA is shutting down four of its games, including Anthem, The Sims Mobile, NBA Live 19, and Real Racing 3. Real Racing 3, which launched in 2013 and has a dedicated following, will be removed from app stores, but players who already have it can continue racing until March 19, 2026, when the game servers will be turned off. The other three games will shut down in January 2026.
