What Makes Core Keeper the Highlight of January 2026’s PS Plus Monthly Lineup

This month’s free PlayStation Plus games include Core Keeper, a highly-rated survival adventure. Developed by Pugstorm and published by Fireshine Games, this top-down sandbox game challenges you to mine resources, craft items, farm, cook, build, and battle your way through a large world to solve the mystery of the Core. You can play alone or with up to three friends in co-op mode. Core Keeper has received excellent reviews, with an average score of 87 on OpenCritic and an 89% recommendation rate, making it one of the best co-op games of 2024. Players on the PlayStation Store have also given it a fantastic rating of 4.74 stars.

NFS Unbound Is the Only AAA Game from This Month’s PS Plus Freebie Lineup

When it comes to high-quality games, Need for Speed Unbound stands out as the biggest title in this month’s free game selection. Released in 2022, it’s the newest game in the popular racing series. While not the highest-rated Need for Speed game, it generally received positive reviews, earning a score of 75 on OpenCritic and a recommendation from 60% of critics. Reviewers liked its unique visual style and fast-paced racing, though some noted issues with how the cars handled when drifting, the challenging AI opponents, and a tough police chase system. Despite being a solid addition to the series, some fans were disappointed to see it offered again as part of the January 2026 PS Plus lineup, since it was already available to subscribers with Extra or Premium plans for much of 2024 and 2025.

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed Is the Most Family-Friendly Free PS Plus Game for January 2026

Completing January 2026’s free PlayStation Plus games is Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, a remastered version of the original Epic Mickey which was first released on Wii in 2010. Developed by Purple Lamp Studios, this updated version is a platforming adventure where Mickey Mouse uses a magical paintbrush to bring a spooky world of forgotten Disney characters back to life – or erase them completely. How you use the paintbrush even changes how the game plays and how some quests end! With a score of 77 on OpenCritic and a 4.38-star rating on the PlayStation Store, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is the most family-friendly game available this month with PS Plus.
