As a seasoned gamer with memories of countless late nights huddled around the television, I can hardly contain my excitement for the imminent arrival of the new Xbox Series X/S consoles! After the initial reveal back in June during the Xbox Games Showcase, the anticipation has been building like a crescendo, and now it’s finally time to preorder.
At Gamescom 2024, Microsoft announced that they will be releasing three new versions of the Xbox Series X/S consoles on October 15th. Preorders for these consoles are now available before their official release. The upcoming Xbox consoles include an Xbox Series S with a 1TB solid-state drive (SSD), an Xbox Series X 1TB Digital Edition, and a Galaxy Black Special Edition Xbox Series X featuring a 2TB SSD.
2024’s Gamescom was a bustling time for Xbox enthusiasts, with the Opening Night Live stream unveiling numerous titles from the Xbox Game Studios collection. Among these were “Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred,” “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,” “Age of Mythology: Retold,” and “Starfield: Shattered Space.” Moreover, the launch date for the much-awaited “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” was disclosed as December 9 on PC and Xbox platforms. Despite the Xbox Series X/S console sales already surpassing expectations, the upcoming roster of Xbox games is poised to push them even higher in the charts by the 2024 holiday shopping season.
During the Xbox Games Showcase in June, it was announced that the new Xbox consoles will be released prior to a bustling holiday season. As stated by Xbox, both the upcoming Xbox Series S and digital Xbox Series X consoles will come in Robot White, along with a controller of the same color, and each will have a 1TB SSD. The Xbox Series S is set to retail for $349.99, while the Xbox Series X 1TB Digital Edition will be priced at $449, a $100 difference. For those seeking the most storage capacity of any console, there’s the Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition, which will cost $599.99 and boast a unique constellation effect on both the console and controller. Notably, only the 2TB Xbox Series X comes equipped with a disc drive.
Three New Xbox Series X/S Consoles Launching This October
- Xbox confirms three Series X and Series S consoles will launch on October 15.
- Some markets will instead see the new consoles released on October 29.
- Two Robot White consoles and a special Galaxy Black Xbox Series X are among the new offers.
- Preorders for each upcoming Xbox console started on August 21.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the mentioned Xbox consoles are set to debut on October 15. Some regions might get them a fortnight later on October 29. For those eagerly waiting for the Xbox Series S with 1TB storage, fear not! Though the Carbon Black model is phasing out, it’s being replaced by the Robot White version, there’s still a chance to grab the Carbon Black while supplies last as Microsoft confirmed they won’t vanish completely.
With exciting upcoming games set for release and ongoing service through Xbox Game Pass, the Xbox Series X and Series S rank high among today’s popular gaming systems. Their long-term success, however, is yet to be determined.
