30 Best PS Plus Extra Games (April 2026)

On June 13, 2022, Sony released a revamped PlayStation Plus service in North America. The new PlayStation Plus offers three different subscription levels, combining the features of the original PS Plus with PS Now. Each tier provides access to a varying selection of games and services.

  • PlayStation Plus Essential ($9.99/month): This tier is the equivalent of the old PS Plus. A subscription includes online access, monthly free games, and discounts.
  • PlayStation Plus Extra ($14.99/month): Along with the Essential tier benefits, Extra provides access to hundreds of PS4 and PS5 games.
  • PlayStation Plus Premium ($17.99/month): Along with the Essential and Extra tier benefits, Premium includes a library of classic games (PS3, PS2, PSP, and PS1), trials, and cloud streaming in certain regions.

PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) boasts a library of over 700 games, spanning more than 20 years of PlayStation gaming. With so many options, finding what you want can be tricky, as the PS Plus app isn’t always easy to navigate. It’s helpful to know the best games available before you subscribe. Sony typically adds a few new games each month, and most of these are for the PlayStation 5. Here’s a look at some of the top games included with the PS Plus Extra tier.

April 17 2026 Update Notes

  • In preparation for the new PS Plus Extra games that drop on April 21, I have added the lineup’s two best titles, along with a hidden gem.

PS Plus Extra: Best New Games (April 2026)

Here is the full April 2026 PS Plus Extra lineup. The games will be available from April 21st.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Well, Aloy’s First Adventure Is Back On PS Plus Extra

It’s great to see Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered as the standout new game on PS Plus in April 2026. It’s a major console exclusive and the start of a popular franchise with a bright future. Many players have been hoping to see Horizon Zero Dawn on the service, and it was disappointing when the original version was removed in 2024, so close to the release of this improved remaster.

Look, I had Horizon Zero Dawn for ages as part of my subscription, and it was the full version with the ‘Frozen Wilds’ expansion. So honestly, it’s hard to get super hyped about it being added again. It feels like we’re just getting something we all already played and owned, you know?

Now that’s settled, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is a standout open-world game available on PS Plus, even if you’re not usually a fan of the genre. If you’ve only played Forbidden West, I highly recommend experiencing the first game, especially because this remastered version includes improvements inspired by the sequel. Horizon Zero Dawn is visually stunning, controls smoothly, and features a captivating, gradually unfolding story.

The Crew Motorfest

Fantastic Racing Game That Doesn’t Get Enough Love

Okay, I get it – another open-world game from Ubisoft, and this time it’s about racing? The Crew Motorfest isn’t going to appeal to everyone, but honestly, if it clicks with you, it’s seriously addictive. It was already a really solid game when it launched, and Ubisoft has been consistently adding new stuff since then, which is awesome.

The Crew Motorfest offers a ton of things to do, easily providing hours of entertainment. It could be a great game to play for a while before you move on to something new. Personally, I usually play racing games like that – I had a good time with this 2023 release, but likely won’t stick with it forever.

Hidden Gem of April 2026

Squirrel with a Gun

More Than A Gimmick

I’ve been burned before judging games too quickly – seriously, Gori: Cuddly Carnage totally surprised me and became a favorite. So, when I saw Squirrel with a Gun, I tried to keep an open mind, because the name sounded… well, ridiculous. It’s not quite as amazing as Gori, but it’s a really solid indie game. The idea is totally silly, but the gameplay is surprisingly addictive and fun. Is it a top-tier PS Plus game? Nah, probably not. But if you want something lighthearted and genuinely enjoyable to play for a bit, you should definitely check it out!

Best PS Plus Extra Games

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

The Most Super Game On PS Plus Extra

With a PS Plus Extra subscription, you can enjoy all three of Insomniac’s acclaimed Spider-Man games, offering over 50 hours of fantastic superhero action. Each game is excellent, so we recommend playing them all!

Since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was recently added to PS Plus in February 2026, we’re focusing on it as the main attraction.

Over the years, Spider-Man has been featured in many good games, but Marvel’s Spider-Man and its follow-ups are the best overall. They offer incredible web-swinging, enjoyable fighting, impressive graphics, and generally solid storylines. All three games take place in a beautifully recreated New York City. While the side activities aren’t groundbreaking compared to other open-world games, the experience of simply moving around the city is so fun that they remain highly enjoyable.

While the story in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has sparked some debate among fans, the gameplay is incredibly polished and refined. A major highlight is the ability to switch between playing as both Miles and Peter, each with their own unique style and abilities.

Red Dead Redemption

Rockstar’s Best Game Is On PS Plus Extra

While Red Dead Redemption 2 is fantastic, the original Red Dead Redemption remains a true classic. The version available on PS Plus Extra is a remastered port for the PS5, and it’s the best way to play this iconic Western. Though shorter than many modern open-world games – the main story takes around 20 hours – Red Dead Redemption packs a lot into that time. It features a compelling story that spans two countries, a cast of unforgettable characters, and a unique honor system that makes you want to play it again and again.

I consider Red Dead Redemption to be the best game Rockstar has made, and playing it on the PS5 only strengthened that opinion. John Marston remains a compelling and nuanced character, and the game masterfully balances thrilling action with moments of quiet reflection and suspense. While it doesn’t go as wildly over-the-top as Grand Theft Auto, RDR is genuinely enjoyable to play.

Undead Nightmare is also part of the package, and it is one of the greatest expansions ever.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

A Fresh Bloodbath Unleashed On PS Plus

In March 2026, the standout addition to the PS Plus Extra library was Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, having been released around a year and a half prior. The game, which was highly anticipated, performed well commercially and already has another installment planned, largely delivers on expectations. Space Marine 2 combines brutal close-quarters fighting with intense third-person shooting, allowing players to embody a formidable warrior and battle countless Tyranids in a concise, enjoyable campaign.

While the game offers cooperative play, most players will likely experience it through the single-player campaign, especially since those interested in multiplayer are probably already playing. Despite some flaws, the campaign in Space Marine 2 is a thrilling experience, combining exciting combat with stunning graphics and memorable moments.

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Maybe The Best Turn-Based RPG On PS Plus

I’m almost reluctant to suggest Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. It’s so captivating, it could easily consume a month or two of your gaming time – especially if you play around 15 hours a week. The Like A Dragon series is famous for its long, detailed stories and tons of side quests, but Infinite Wealth takes it to a whole new level. It’s by far the longest game in the series, and it might just take over your life for a while!

Beyond just offering a lot of gameplay, Infinite Wealth also excels in quality. The game takes place in Hawaii and follows two main characters, continuing the stories of both Kazuma and Ichiban. While Ichiban is the central figure, Kazuma has significant moments too. Honolulu is beautifully designed, expansive for a Yakuza game, and packed with things to do, including consistently impressive side stories. The combat system, which is turn-based, is solid and enjoyable, though familiar to players of the genre.
