Recent online leaks have revealed details about four upcoming LEGO Pokémon sets, including their prices and how many pieces they’ll contain. The leaks also confirm some information that was previously reported. Importantly, these sets are traditional LEGO builds and won’t use LEGO’s newer, more interactive Smart Play system.
In early January 2026, LEGO officially launched its Smart Play line, a new take on its classic building bricks. These bricks have multiple sensors that can tell where they are, how they’re positioned, and even detect light, sound, or other LEGO pieces. This allows them to react with lights and sounds. While LEGO’s upcoming Pokemon sets were expected to be the first to feature this new technology, the initial sets revealed don’t have Smart Play capabilities, and more non-Smart Play Pokemon sets are reportedly planned.

A reliable source recently shared details about four new LEGO Pokémon sets that are expected to release soon. These sets will be traditional builds, meaning they won’t include any electronic or “smart” features. The most affordable set, number 72510, will have 757 pieces and cost around $70. Set 72160 is rumored to include 1,190 pieces and retail for $100. Set 72168 will have slightly fewer pieces – 1,038 – but is expected to be priced at $130. The largest of the leaked sets will contain 2,339 pieces and cost $260, putting it in a similar price range to the LEGO Pikachu and Poke Ball set (2,050 pieces for $200, currently available for pre-order). Age ratings for most of the sets were previously known, but the rating for set 72160 has been updated from 7+ to 6+.

Many dedicated Pokémon collectors will likely be pleased to hear about the possibility of more classic sets. Some have recently been unsure about LEGO’s new “Smart Play” line. When it was announced, fans had mixed reactions – some thought it was mostly for kids, while others disliked the addition of technology to LEGO, which is already a costly hobby. The limited availability of these new sensor-equipped sets this year adds to the problem, meaning even interested collectors might not be able to get them right away.
Despite this, many of the LEGO Pokémon sets planned for 2026 are expected to be part of the ‘Smart Play’ line, which focuses on interactive building. Details about ten of these sets appeared online in December, revealing a diverse range of products – including at least one house shaped like a Pokémon, sets showing Pokémon evolving, and even a buildable battle between Jolteon and Charizard.

Fans on social media are expressing disappointment with the new LEGO Pokémon sets. Instead of the smaller, collectible minifigure versions many expected, all three revealed sets feature larger, brick-built Pokémon models. This might be because of the huge variety in Pokémon sizes, and LEGO may have decided that standard minifigure parts weren’t detailed enough to accurately represent each Pokémon.
LEGO is releasing its first three Pokémon sets—featuring Eevee, Pikachu, and a Poké Ball, plus Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise—on February 27th. A bigger collection of LEGO Pokémon products is planned for release on August 1st, and an official announcement about those sets could come a month or two beforehand. The recently revealed sets are believed to be included in this summer release.
