Microsoft has just verified the addition of ten fresh games to their Xbox Game Pass, with four set for release by the end of 2025. These updates were highlighted during the ID@Xbox Showcase, a platform dedicated to showcasing thrilling indie games destined for Xbox Game Pass.
2025 looks set to be another fantastic year for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, with numerous day one releases on the horizon. In the first two months alone, subscribers have already enjoyed first-party titles like Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming game Avowed, along with third-party games such as Eternal Strands and Citizen Sleeper 2. But that’s just the beginning! The coming months will bring even more exciting day one releases for fans, including Doom: The Dark Ages, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, South of Midnight, and Atomfall.
At the latest ID@Xbox Showcase, Microsoft announced ten games coming to Xbox Game Pass this year as day one releases. Among these, four titles – Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, Tanuki Pon’s Summer, Buckshot Roulette, and Echo Weaver – do not yet have specific release dates, with expected launches slated for late in 2025.
Moonlighter 2 is a sequel to the original Moonlighter, an action RPG centered around a shopkeeper’s adventures, which initially debuted on PC in 2018. Tanuki Pon’s Summer invites players to assume the role of a lazy tanuki working part-time at the post office, where they deliver packages and make friends with locals. Buckshot Roulette, already available on Steam, is an indie hit known for its unique aesthetics that lets gamers experience Russian roulette using a 12-gauge shotgun. Lastly, Echo Weaver offers a Metroidvania experience set in a society in ruins stuck within a glitching time loop.

- Buckshot Roulette
- Echo Weaver
- Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault
- Tanuki Pon’s Summer
Before playing these specific titles, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will get an early look at other indie games. During the showcase, it was announced that 33 Immortals would be released on March 18, and three games – Descenders Next, Blue Prince, and Tempopo – are set to join Game Pass in April 2025. Additionally, the third-person shooter game Revenge of the Savage Planet is scheduled for release on May 8.
Among the unexpected highlights of the ID@Xbox Showcase was the sudden release of the widely acclaimed deckbuilder game, “Balatro,” onto Xbox Game Pass. This game gained immense popularity in 2024, selling millions of copies and even being nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards. Although it lost to “Astro Bot”, it was still one of the standout indie games from the previous year. Here’s hoping that the indie games announced during the show are just a taste of the many fantastic titles coming to Game Pass in 2025.
