4 One Piece Characters Who Killed A Yonko

In the world of One Piece, the Yonko are the four most powerful pirates who dominate the New World. The original Yonko were Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom, and Shanks, but three of them have since been defeated or replaced. These pirates are incredibly strong, making it almost impossible to defeat them, let alone kill them. However, a few individuals have managed to kill a Yonko, and unsurprisingly, they are exceptionally powerful themselves.

  • Yonko Killed: Whitebeard

Blackbeard has been steadily growing in power and importance since he was first introduced as a key villain. He’s a ruthless and clever character, demonstrated by the fact that he once killed a member of his own crew when he was part of Whitebeard’s pirate group. This means Blackbeard and Whitebeard have a long-standing history together.

During the war at Marineford, Blackbeard ultimately defeated Whitebeard, one of the most powerful pirates in the world of One Piece. This victory allowed Blackbeard to claim Whitebeard’s incredibly powerful Devil Fruit, the Gura Gura no Mi. Following Whitebeard’s defeat, Blackbeard became a contender to take his place as a Yonko, and he officially achieved that status the following year – a position he still holds in the series.

How Blackbeard Killed Whitebeard

Blackbeard didn’t truly defeat Whitebeard in a fair fight. By the time they clashed, Whitebeard was already weakened by age, illness, and a brutal battle against the Marines, especially Akainu. Blackbeard simply finished him off. It’s believed Blackbeard even ate a portion of Whitebeard to gain his powerful Devil Fruit ability. This ultimately led to the death of the man once considered the strongest in the world.

Monkey D. Luffy

  • Yonko Killed: Kaido

Luffy is the main character of the popular series, One Piece. Viewers have been with him since the beginning of his journey in the East Blue, where he battled villains like Arlong. Now, in the dangerous New World, Luffy has become incredibly powerful – one of the very few characters strong enough to defeat a Yonko, the most powerful pirates in the world.

During the Wano arc of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy defeated Kaido, who was considered the strongest being alive. Kaido had a reputation for always winning his battles, but Luffy managed to overcome him. While Kaido is currently believed to be dead, the author, Oda, hasn’t officially confirmed his fate.

How Luffy Killed Kaido

So far, Luffy’s fight against Kaido was undoubtedly his most challenging in One Piece. Kaido was incredibly durable thanks to his powerful Dragon Devil Fruit and exceptional Haki. However, Luffy managed to win by awakening his own Devil Fruit and mastering Conqueror’s Haki. These abilities allowed him to defeat the powerful Yonko with sheer force. Kaido ultimately exploded in a massive volcanic eruption, and is presumed dead.

Trafalgar D. Water Law

  • Yonko Killed: Big Mom

Trafalgar Law is a fan-favorite character in One Piece. He first appeared in the Sabaody Archipelago, but didn’t become a major player until after the time skip, beginning with the events at Punk Hazard. Law and Luffy teamed up several times, notably in the fight against Doflamingo on Dressrosa. Their partnership really came into its own during the battle of Onigashima. With Luffy focused on Kaido, someone needed to deal with the other Yonko, Big Mom. Law and Kid therefore joined forces to take her down, requiring Law to fully utilize the incredible power and versatility of his Devil Fruit, the Ope Ope no Mi.

How Law Killed Big Mom

Law defeated one of the Four Emperors, Big Mom, but he couldn’t have done it without Kid’s help. During the fight, Law awakened the full potential of his Devil Fruit. Despite Big Mom’s seemingly unbreakable defenses, Law managed to inflict fatal internal injuries using powers like Shock Wille and Puncture Wille. Similar to Kaido, it’s currently unknown what exactly happened to Big Mom, but everyone in the One Piece world – including the Blackbeard Pirates – believes she is dead.

Eustass Kid

  • Yonko Killed: Big Mom

Eustace Kid is a key member of the Worst Generation pirates. He, like Trafalgar Law, was first seen at the Sabaody Archipelago, but it took a long time for the author to fully develop his story. Kid truly became important during the Wano arc of One Piece. His part in the raid on Onigashima was crucial, as he and Law were tasked with fighting Big Mom, one of the most powerful pirates and considered just as dangerous as Kaido. By working together and with a bit of luck, they managed to defeat her.

How Kid Killed Big Mom

Okay, so everyone knows Luffy wasn’t the only one going after Big Mom! Killer and I were right there with him, and honestly, Kid really shined in that fight. He and Law were a fantastic team, and Kid’s Devil Fruit awakening – that Jiki Jiki no Mi – was seriously impressive. He landed some HUGE blows on that Yonko, I’m telling you! It wasn’t just Law doing all the work; Kid brought some serious power to the table.

Kid used powerful attacks, like Punk Corna Dio, to hold Big Mom back during the battle. Ultimately, Law and Kid defeated her by knocking her off Onigashima. They were somewhat fortunate, as they wouldn’t have been able to finish her off if she hadn’t fallen and been hit by explosives. Big Mom was then caught in a massive volcanic eruption, which likely destroyed her. While she’s currently presumed dead in the world of One Piece, a full return isn’t out of the question, as Oda hasn’t shown her funeral.
