EA is introducing a major new feature to EA FC: an open-world game mode. Following a recent worldwide playtest and numerous leaks, we’ve gotten a good look at what’s coming and can now break down the most important details.
The EA FC series (previously known as FIFA) consistently dominates the sports game market, selling millions of copies every year regardless of reviews or reception. Recognizing the need to innovate, EA has been developing an open-world game mode, which was announced a few years ago. Now that the initial testing phase is underway, we’ve compiled the most important highlights.
Best EA FC Open-World Game Mode Leaks

EA FC Open World Release Period Likely Revealed
One of the biggest surprises from the leaks about the new open-world EA FC mode is the likely timeframe for its release. While the game still needs a lot of testing, both internally and with players, information from FootballGamingZone suggests EA is already heavily focused on EA FC 27.
Things could still change, but current leaks suggest the open-world mode for EA FC might launch in 2026 with EA FC 27. We’ll have to wait for official confirmation from EA, though.
Lots Of Game Modes & Mini-Games

Initial leaks suggest there are quite a few game modes to try out already: Six, to be precise.
- Balloon Ball
- Closest To The Pin
- Draw The Line
- Foot Tennis
- Kickabouts
- Rush
Most of these games are pretty straightforward. “Rush” is similar to the original, but with even fewer restrictions. In “Draw The Line,” you score points by moving the ball to create shapes. And “Closest To The Pin” stays true to its golf theme – you earn points by getting your ball nearest to the target.
Foot Tennis plays just like traditional Foot Tennis, Kickabouts is similar to Volta football, and Balloon Ball is the most varied mode – it’s like dodgeball with balloons and power-ups that add extra excitement!
We’re Going Continent Hopping
Another FGZ exclusive: The open world mode has several maps to explore based on major countries.
A leaked presentation indicates players will be able to travel between Europe and South America, starting with maps based on England, France, and Argentina. These locations aren’t just visually authentic; they’ll also each have unique details and features. We’re not sure yet if this will include special mini-games or exclusive items, but each area promises to be distinct.
It Will Have Another Battle Pass
It’s no surprise EA is adding another Battle Pass to FC 24 – they’re always looking for ways to generate revenue. Expect a special in-game shop for the open world, alongside the Battle Pass, which will be filled with cosmetic items to customize your experience.
FGZ announced that customers can expect to receive shoes, jackets, tops, trousers, and hats, plus Club Points.
Speaking of which.
EA FC Open World & EA FC Will Work Alongside Each Other

The items included in the Battle Pass suggest that the expansive open world feature will be a central part of the core EA FC gameplay.
Testers and leaked details show the game features a progression system similar to the Pro Clubs mode in EA FC 26 and previous FC titles. Players will select a character type (Archetype), improve stats by earning experience, and utilize familiar Pro Clubs gameplay elements.
Whether you consider it a shortcut is up to you, but switching your account from Clubs to Open-World mode lets you level up your character in new ways, and without the pressure of competition.
