5 Strongest Elves in Frieren, Ranked

This article contains spoilers from the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga.

In the fantasy world of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, you’ll find a diverse range of creatures, including humans, demons, elves, and dwarves. Elves stand out because they live for centuries and have a natural talent for magic. They possess far greater magical power than humans or demons, and learning spells is much easier for them.

I’m completely fascinated by Frieren! She’s one of the most powerful elves in the whole story, even though she doesn’t usually show off what she can do. She’s spent centuries learning magic, but honestly, a lot of other elves are just as skilled, maybe even more so. It’s sad that elves seem to be disappearing in the world of Frieren, but it’s clear their magical abilities are still incredibly strong!

5. Milliarde

Her Magic Barrier Takes Forever to Break

  • Manga Appearance: Chapter 69

Following Serie, Milliarde is the next elf mage to be introduced in Frieren. While her exact powers and strength are still a mystery, simply being an elf mage suggests she possesses immense magical knowledge gained over centuries of experience.

Like Frieren, Milliarde likely possesses an incredibly large amount of magical power. This is suggested by the fact that she once magically sealed Boshaft, the “emperor alcohol,” in a barrier that took Frieren three months to break. It’s safe to say she’s exceptionally powerful.

Frieren and Milliarde haven’t met again yet, but Frieren remembers Milliarde as an elf mage who’s very laid-back and enjoys wasting time. This isn’t unusual for elves, who often don’t mind letting years pass without accomplishing much. However, Milliarde once dedicated years to a search, only to discover it was for something completely pointless.

4. Minus

The Great Elven Witch Who Turned Towns Into Ruins

  • Manga Appearance: Chapter 133

Frieren’s world also includes powerful, malevolent elves, and the Great Mage Minus was one of them. Unlike many other elves, Minus was known for her cruelty and earned the title “Witch” due to her violent acts against other races. She’s infamous for completely destroying a town in the Southern Countries with a single attack, leaving behind only horrific remnants. The spell she used was so powerful and uncontrolled that its effects lasted for decades.

Interestingly, Minus also had a Holy Wand Emblem, just like Frieren, which hinted at immense magical power. Although this seems concerning for Frieren and her companions, Minus actually died years ago. The identity of her killer is unknown, but rumors suggest a young warrior from the town Minus destroyed was responsible for finally defeating her.

We don’t yet know what caused Minus to turn evil, but the Frieren manga might explore her history and the full scope of her abilities in upcoming chapters.

3. Monk Kraft

The Elf Who Once Saved the World

  • Manga Appearance: Chapter 24
  • Anime Appearance: Frieren Season 1 Episode 11

In the anime Frieren, elves aren’t always slender; the character Monk Kraft is a great example of a powerfully built elf. He’s clearly strong and fit, likely from regular, intense training like squats. He traveled with Frieren’s group for about six months, even camping in the freezing cold on a snowy mountain.

Currently, Monk Kraft is the only male elf we’ve met in the story. He’s lived a very long time – much longer than Frieren – and has spent centuries quietly helping people, single-handedly saving villages and preventing tragedies. He even helped save the world once, alongside a priest, though the specifics of that event are lost to history.

Kraft isn’t like most elves. He’s much more open and expressive with his feelings, a stark difference from the typically reserved and unemotional nature of his people.

2. Frieren

The Demon-Killing Elf

  • Manga Appearance: Chapter 1
  • Anime Appearance: Frieren Season 1 Episode 1

Frieren is undeniably one of the most powerful characters in the series, and her accomplishments prove it. Known as “Frieren the Slayer,” she’s famous for defeating more demons than anyone else. She was also the mage in the Hero Party, helping Himmel and his companions defeat the Demon King. Furthermore, she’s the sole student of the renowned mage Flamme, who taught her the unique skill of hiding her magical power.

Following the passing of Flamme, Frieren’s magical abilities are rivaled only by Serie, an elf mage from a time long ago. Over centuries, Frieren has mastered all kinds of magic – from powerful attacks and defenses to helpful support spells and everyday enchantments. This vast knowledge allows her to outsmart enemies, understand their strategies, and respond effectively.

Beating Frieren in a one-on-one fight would be extremely difficult, if not impossible. She’s an elf with a massive amount of magical power, and she’s also a brilliant strategist, making it hard to predict and overcome her attacks.

1. Serie

The Elven Mage Referred to as the Living Grimoire

  • Manga Appearance: Chapter 43
  • Anime Appearance: Frieren Season 1 Episode 18

Serie, also called the Living Grimoire, is generally considered the most powerful elf mage in the series Frieren. Many fans think she could easily defeat the Demon King on her own, but she chooses not to, as she seems to prefer a world with ongoing conflict.

Most human mages are amazed by Serie’s incredible magical abilities. Having lived since the time of myth, she has mastered every spell imaginable – from attacks and defenses to healing and forgotten ancient magic. While many praise her for advancing the art of magic, others fear her immense power and see her as a terrifying, unstoppable force.

When you compare Serie and Frieren, Serie is much more powerful. Her magical abilities are incredibly strong, far exceeding Frieren’s, despite Frieren having spent most of her life searching for and learning magic.
