5 Time-Wasting Mistakes to Avoid in ARC Raiders Cold Snap Event

ARC Raiders is introducing a new event called Cold Snap that ramps up the challenge. Players will face not only the usual enemies and other players, but also dangerously cold temperatures. If you don’t find shelter inside a building, the cold will quickly eliminate you. This new ‘Frostbite’ effect adds a fresh layer of difficulty to the already intense extraction shooter experience.

If you’re serious about maximizing your gains, be careful to avoid these common pitfalls. If you find yourself doing any of the following, it’s time to rethink your strategy! These mistakes will cost you valuable time and reduce your profits from activities like Cold Snap runs. Things like collecting useless items during events or wasting time on unproductive containers can really set you back.

Harvesting Candleberries

Completing The Event Steps Will Give Players Enough Of These

Candleberries are featured in the Flickering Flames event in ARC Raiders, but they don’t have much value outside of completing parts of the Special Project. You can collect up to 10 at a time, and a full stack is worth 4600. If you’re trying to maximize storage before the reset for the Expeditions Project, it’s better to save space for other items.

Collecting Candleberries directly from bushes isn’t worth your time. You’ll find much more – between 5 and 12 – by digging up Raider Caches, which are common throughout Cold Snap. Bushes only give you one or two berries, and you’ll only find a few bushes in each location. They also take longer to gather and are harder to spot. Especially when there’s a 2x Loot Boost active, focus on areas with more valuable loot instead.

Breaching Car Hoods

Only Trash Loot Here, Move Along

Players can find metal parts, oil, motors, light bulbs, and basic mechanical components by opening car hoods in ARC Raiders’ Cold Snap maps. However, these spots aren’t worth the effort. Car hoods take a long time to open, make a lot of noise, leave players vulnerable, and the rewards simply aren’t good enough to justify the risk.

To get the best items, players should focus on finding areas with high-quality loot, Raider Caches, and Weapon Caches. Looting cars is actually a bad idea in Cold Snap, because it leaves you exposed to the cold for too long and speeds up the rate at which you get Frostbite.

Breaching And Looting Baron Husks

Barons Are Big And Tempting, But With Subpar Loot, Even In Cold Snap

Let’s be honest, Raiders – Barons just aren’t worth the trouble. Even during the Cold Snap event, they don’t offer good loot. What you find isn’t valuable enough to help you upgrade your crafting stations. Plus, raiding a Baron’s Husk is incredibly noisy – it’s like announcing your location to everyone nearby. Breaking in triggers a powerful response from the Husk, releasing bright red smoke and a ton of noise that can be seen and heard from a long distance.

Honestly, playing in those hot zones is just brutal. It really takes a toll on your character, and the heat just draws in all the ARC creatures – it’s like a magnet! And for what? The loot is seriously disappointing. You’re just finding junk like scrap metal, coolant, and busted ARC parts that you can break down into basic materials. Trust me, you’re way better off spending your time finding loot somewhere else.

Looting Probes & Fuel Tanks

They Are Super Annoying, And Frustrating To Loot

Probes are easily detected and attract unwanted attention, which often leads players to try and break into them. Even with perks that make breaching quieter and faster, it’s generally not worth the effort. The reward – around 7,000 Credits – is small compared to the potential gains from looting elsewhere.

Earning credits by destroying Rocketeer Husks can be very profitable, particularly when you find extra loot. They often drop Damaged Rocketeer Drivers, which are a common item you can recycle for 2000 credits each and you can stack up to three of them. Besides probes, ARC Couriers are another great source of valuable items – you might find Sentinel Firing Cores, Leaper Pulse Units, or even Surveyor Vaults, which are essential for making advanced gear and upgrading crafting benches.

Calling Supply Drops, And Looting Them

Worst Time Waster In Cold Snap

Based on the screenshots, requesting and opening Supply Drops isn’t worth the effort. The items inside aren’t any better than what you’d find elsewhere on the map, and calling in a drop essentially broadcasts your location to other players, making you an easy target for attack.

Calling in a supply drop is risky and takes too long. By the time you request it, wait for it to arrive, land, and finally loot it, another player could have already searched half of a small point of interest or even two weapon crate locations. Weapon crates should be your focus, as they have a higher chance of containing the best weapons. Therefore, in Cold Snap, it’s best to skip requesting supply drops – they simply aren’t worth the effort.
