50 – Panzer Strike

Recently, news broke about the reveal of Panzer Strike, a new Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game being developed by ISAK Team. This upcoming title aims to deliver an “authentic RTS” experience reminiscent of games from the 2000s, such as Blitzkrieg and Sudden Strike. With its focus on large maps, a multitude of units, and intense combat without base-building mechanics, it certainly seems like a throwback to those classic games.

49 – Ancient Arenas: Chariots

In 2014, the game Qvadriga was extremely popular. It stood out as a distinctive chariot racing simulator, offering both turn-based and real-time gameplay, with intricate systems that added depth to the experience. What truly set it apart from other racing sims was its Roman quadriga setting. Despite being well-received, Turnopia didn’t fully utilize this setting or expand upon its concept. However, the creators of Ancient Arenas: Chariots aim to fill that gap by developing a game that could serve as a spiritual successor to Qvadriga. At this point, not much is known about it, but it’s anticipated to be quite significant in the realm of chariot racing games.

48 – Rise of Industry 2

Originally, Rise of Industry was a game that combined management and tycoon elements, taking place during the early 1900s where players assumed the role of an emerging industrialist. Its only expansion pack, 2130, briefly ventured the series into the 22nd century. Now, five years after the launch of RoI, Rise of Industry 2 is returning to the 80s and is set in the United States, where you strive to transform your American dream into a tangible reality.

47 – Capital Command

Hooded Horse currently rules supreme in the realm of strategy games, having dethroned Paradox Interactive in 2024. They are poised to launch almost every strategy game in development over the next few years, and one such game is Capital Command. This is a sandbox-style space simulation where players command their own custom warships.

46 – Fata Deum

As a gaming enthusiast who cherishes the rare gems of god-simulation games, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement whenever a new contender emerges on the scene, promising to craft one. Fata Deum appears to be drawing directly from the rich legacy of these timeless classics, offering players the choice between two starkly contrasting roles: either a compassionate deity guiding your pixelated people towards prosperity or a mischievous deity leading them down a path of chaos, violence, vice, and demonic influences. If you’re intrigued and want to dip your toes into this enticing world, a demo is available for you to explore!

45 – Kriegsfront Tactics

Kriegsfront Tactics is a “strategy role-playing game set in an alternate 1970s Southeast Asia, where you command a squad of mechs”. If that doesn’t catch your attention and make you exclaim “Whoa, what was that all about?”, I’m not sure what would. Although the concept of controlling a team of mechs might seem familiar by now, its graphics reminiscent of the PS1/PS2 era, and the user interface resembling Metal Gear Solid, along with the unique Southeast Asian setting, have certainly sparked my interest enough to include it on this list. You can start playing the prologue immediately by clicking this link.

44 – Commander: Europe at War

As an enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation! Although some might argue it’s premature, the news about Matrix reimagining the 2007 classic game, Commander: Europe at War, in 3D is simply too exciting to ignore. The remake promises enhanced AI, an upgraded user interface, and the introduction of fresh units and diplomacy systems. It seems we’ll have a variety of six captivating campaigns to explore, ranging from the North Atlantic to Western Russia. The visuals showcase a harmonious blend of pastel hues that promise a smooth and calming gaming experience.

43 – Fragile Existence

Another captivating title by Hooded Horse, Fragile Existence, is a real-time strategy game in space that tasks you with safeguarding humanity from annihilation. It bears a striking resemblance to Planetary Annihilation. Build your cosmic colonies, cultivate an army, and engage in battles against formidable adversaries. What more could a gamer ask for?

42 – Radio Commander: Pacific Campaign

During my interview with the Radio Commander: Pacific Campaign team in December 2022, I anticipated the game’s release sometime in 2023. However, not much was heard from them until recently, when a demo was released at the Steam Next Fest a few weeks ago. I’ve had a chance to play it and find it enjoyable so far, but I’ll reserve full judgment until I see how well it handles its naval aspects. Here’s hoping it meets the high expectations that have been set.

41 – Nova Roma

For enthusiasts of city-building games, 2025 looks promising with the upcoming release of Nova Roma. This game is being developed by Lion Shield and published by Hooded Horse. In Nova Roma, you’ll guide a group of citizens seeking to rebuild Rome after its fall, discovering new territories where they can establish their own city. You’ll focus on growing your economy, utilizing natural resources, keeping the gods content, creating laws, and ensuring the happiness of your people. I’m eager to see how Nova Roma compares with other games in this category when it releases.
