As a huge fan of One Piece, I’m always amazed by Devil Fruits! They’re these incredible, magical fruits that give people all sorts of amazing powers – and no two are quite alike. There’s a ton of variety! They basically fall into three different categories, but even with other powerful abilities like Haki in the series, Devil Fruits are still one of the most important and defining parts of the One Piece world, in my opinion.
Devil Fruits vary in strength – some are fairly ordinary, while others are quite good – but they all offer some kind of benefit to the person who consumes them. Certain fruits, though, are incredibly powerful, capable of turning a regular person into a major force, comparable to the strongest pirates known as the Yonko. Examples include the Gura Gura no Mi, which has the power to cause massive destruction, and the Devil Fruit wielded by Imu, which seems to have the ability to defeat opponents with a single attack.
Imu’s Devil Fruit
- User: Imu
- Type: Unknown
When Imu arrived on Elbaf, fans immediately saw their Devil Fruit power in action. Imu can control others, and when they do, the people they control take on a demonic form. This ability, called Domi Reversi, allows Imu to harness a dark power and essentially turn enemies into allies.
Imu possesses magical abilities, demonstrated through the use of a spell book and incredibly powerful feats. Their Devil Fruit is exceptionally strong, capable of impacting even the most formidable characters in the One Piece world, including powerful figures like Dorry, Brogy, and even Rocks D. Xebec.
Yami Yami no Mi
- User: Blackbeard
- Type: Logia
The Yami Yami no Mi is a truly unique Devil Fruit. While it’s a Logia type, it doesn’t let the user transform into darkness or avoid attacks – in fact, it makes them take more damage. Despite this significant drawback, the fruit offers an incredible power: the ability to nullify other Devil Fruit abilities.
Blackbeard obtained this powerful Devil Fruit at a terrible cost, even resorting to killing a member of his own crew. This highlights how significant the fruit is and suggests it will be crucial in the story’s conclusion.
Gura Gura no Mi
- User: Blackbeard, Whitebeard (Formerly)
- Type: Paramecia
Without a doubt, the most powerful Paramecia-type Devil Fruit in One Piece is the Gura Gura no Mi, known as the Tremor Tremor Fruit. It’s incredibly strong, giving its user the potential to cause worldwide destruction through massive earthquakes and tsunamis. No other Devil Fruit in the series comes close to matching its destructive capabilities.
The Gura Gura no Mi, a tremendously powerful Devil Fruit, has always been held by members of the Yonko – the four most powerful pirates. It was first wielded by Whitebeard, who earned the title of the “Strongest Man in the World” because of its abilities. Now, Blackbeard possesses the fruit, continuing the tradition of only Yonko wielding its power.
Magu Magu no Mi

- Type: Logia
The Magu Magu no Mi is widely considered to be one of the most powerful Logia-type Devil Fruits. It allows the user to generate, become, and manipulate magma – and in the world of One Piece, magma is an incredibly potent ability.
I’ve noticed the current wielder of this powerful Devil Fruit is none other than Fleet Admiral Akainu. Interestingly, Oda has mentioned that if he were the main character, he’d have already discovered the One Piece! That really highlights just how strong this fruit’s abilities are.
Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu
- User: Kaido, Momonosuke (SMILE)
- Type: Mythical Zoan
The Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, is considered one of the most impressive Devil Fruits seen in action. This Mythical Zoan type allows the user to transform into an eastern dragon.
This transformation grants the user incredibly durable skin and the ability to breathe destructive fire, along with control over elements like wind and lightning. This exceptionally powerful Devil Fruit was a prize awarded during the God Valley incident. Kaido is the original user, and his immense strength was demonstrated in the Wano arc. Momonosuke possesses a modified version of the fruit, and is already quite powerful, with the potential to become even stronger in the upcoming Final Saga.
Mero Mero No Mi
- User: Boa Hancock
- Type: Paramecia
Many One Piece fans don’t realize just how powerful the Mero Mero no Mi, or Love Love Fruit, actually is. This Devil Fruit lets its user instantly turn enemies to stone with just a touch – even if the enemy simply feels any positive emotion towards them. Physical contact alone is enough to activate the power, even without any feelings involved.
Boa Hancock currently possesses this incredibly powerful Devil Fruit. Blackbeard, recognizing its strength, actively avoided a direct fight with her, admitting she could defeat him if he wasn’t cautious. The fruit has already demonstrated the ability to defeat a Yonko with a single, well-placed attack, and Blackbeard, who only seeks the most formidable powers, desperately wanted it for himself.
The next chapter of One Piece is coming out this week, as it’s typically released on Sundays. While it becomes available in Japan at midnight on Monday JST, most international fans will be able to read it on November 2nd. The chapter will be available for free on Manga Plus.
