7 Days to Die: How to Upgrade Building Blocks

As a seasoned survivor in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of 7 Days to Die, I can’t help but appreciate the intricacies of the building blocks. These humble structures are the pillars that keep us alive, the walls that ward off the undead hordes, and the sanctuary that provides a glimmer of hope in this desolate world.

In the game “7 Days to Die“, players need to construct their bases using the essential Building Blocks. These building blocks essentially form the base’s structure and walls, providing protection against hordes of zombies and other potential threats.

The game features various types of construction materials, starting with simple clay blocks as the foundation and advancing to a variety of other options. Each level of upgrade enhances the robustness of these building materials, ensuring that players have a sturdy shelter for survival in this post-apocalyptic open-world setting.

To enhance your Building Blocks, you’ll need certain items tailored for each level of block. These upgrading tools include a Stone Axe, Taza’s Stone Axe, Claw Hammer, and Nailgun. After collecting enough resources, pick one of these tools and simply click the right mouse button on the block you want to upgrade.

As of writing this guide, the Building Block can be upgraded to four levels, which are:

  1. Wooden Block by using Wood.
  2. Cobblestone Block by using Cobblestone Rocks.
  3. Concrete Block by using Concrete Mix.
  4. Steel Block by using Forged Steel.

In the beginning stages of the game, you’ll encounter wooden and stoneblock pieces first. Once you’ve planned out the design for your base, it’s suggested that you start constructing with wooden block structures, which can later be improved to stoneblock ones once the building phase has been completed.

Since cobblestone blocks are extremely tough to damage, it means that taking out or shifting a single block from the structure will require considerable effort.

The required resources for each tier of the building block are:

  1. Upgrading the Building Block to a Wood Block requires 8 Wood.
  2. Upgrading the Wood Block to a Cobblestone Block requires 10 Cobblestone Rocks.
  3. Upgrading the Cobblestone Block to a Concrete Block requires 10 Concrete Mix.
  4. Upgrading the Concrete Block to Steel Blocks requires 10 Forged Steel.

Upgrading a single block will incur this cost. If your plan is to upgrade multiple blocks simultaneously, it’s wise to stockpile an ample supply of the necessary materials prior to starting the upgrade process.

Players not only have the option to enhance the existing structure blocks, but they can also make their chosen blocks themselves. However, by merely constructing the required blocks, you’ll forgo the opportunity to earn XPs, as these are exclusively awarded during block upgrades, not during the process of building and placing them directly.
