7 Demon Slayer Characters That Can Solo Akaza

This article contains major spoilers for the Demon Slayer series.

I recently watched Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1, and it really brought Akaza into focus. He’s incredibly powerful – one of Muzan’s strongest demons, holding the rank of Upper Rank Three – and the movie almost felt centered around him. While Tanjiro and Giyu fought bravely, they couldn’t quite defeat him. It got me thinking about who could beat him, and it’s not just other powerful demons like Muzan. Characters like Yoriichi, a remarkably skilled human, also seem capable of taking him on alone.

Gyomei

The Stone Hashira

Whether any of the Hashira could defeat one of Muzan’s top three demons on their own is a big question. We haven’t seen anyone do it yet, but if one Hashira had a chance against Akaza, it would most likely be Gyomei, the Stone Hashira.

Gyomei is the most powerful and seasoned Hashira. When at his strongest, he activates his Demon Slayer mark, his Nichirin blade glows brilliantly, and he can perceive the Transparent World. Because of these incredible abilities, Gyomei stands a strong chance of winning in a one-on-one fight against Akaza.

Nakime

The Upper Rank Four

Nakime is ranked below Akaza, as Upper Rank 4, but she’s still a formidable opponent. Her Blood Demon Art – the Infinity Castle – is considered the most powerful in Demon Slayer. She can build and completely control this massive castle.

Akaza wouldn’t stand a chance against Nakime, who could easily teleport him far away, even into the sun. Furthermore, Nakime has a significant advantage because Akaza wouldn’t attempt to harm a woman.

Doma

The Upper Rank 2

Doma held the position of Upper Rank 2 Demon, which was higher than Akaza’s rank. However, there’s often discussion about whether Doma truly deserved that higher position. Ultimately, Doma was the more powerful of the two.

Akaza could have been even stronger, but his lingering human side – specifically, his unwillingness to harm women – held him back. While their battle would be incredibly close, Doma would likely win.

Kokushibo

The Upper Rank 1

Within Muzan’s demon forces, Kokushibo is widely considered his most powerful follower. He’s an exceptionally frightening demon, significantly stronger than Akaza.

Kokushibo is the strongest of the Upper Rank Demons for good reason. His mastery of Moon Breathing and incredible ability to regenerate give him a significant edge in battle against all demons besides Muzan.

Muzan

The Demon King

Muzan is widely feared as the Demon King, and for good reason. He’s considered the original demon, the one from whom all others descend, and he’s far more powerful than any of them. He not only gave Akaza his demonic abilities, but he also possesses the strength to defeat him without much effort.

Honestly, Muzan is just in a league of his own compared to the other demons! It’s mind-blowing, but to really understand how powerful he is, remember that even beheading him doesn’t finish the job – his regeneration is that incredible. It’s seriously on another level!

Demon King Tanjiro

The Strongest Demon Ever

Demon King Tanjiro

Fans of the anime haven’t seen the most powerful demon yet, and it’s surprisingly not Muzan – it’s actually Tanjiro, who nearly became the new Demon King to continue Muzan’s work. Luckily, Nezuko and Kanao managed to stop his transformation at the end of the series.

I’ve been thinking about Demon King Tanjiro, and even though he never actually got to unleash his power on the Demon Slayer world, I’m convinced he’d easily defeat Akaza. It really wouldn’t even be a close fight.

Yoriichi

Demon Slayer’s Strongest Character Ever

Without a doubt, Yoriichi is the most powerful character in Demon Slayer. He’s strong enough that he nearly defeated Muzan, and Muzan was so terrified of him that he went into hiding and remained there until his end. Even a formidable opponent like Akaza wouldn’t last long in a fight against Yoriichi.

I’m so excited – Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 is finally showing in theaters! If you just can’t wait for the movie release, you can actually read ahead with the manga on Manga Plus. And for those who prefer anime, there are already four full seasons available on Crunchyroll. But here’s the thing: the rest of the story will be released as movies, so we’ll all have to catch them in theaters when they come to our countries!
