Summary
- EA has already shut down 2 games in January 2025.
- Now seven EA mobile games are shutting down.
- Even more games from EA are being shut down later in 2025.
As a devoted gaming enthusiast, I’m saddened to share that seven games will be ceasing operations today, all under the EA banner. EA is known for maintaining a transparent list of games it plans to shut down, giving fans ample time to prepare for the inevitable closure, usually several months in advance. Given that EA publishes numerous live-service games, annual sports titles with expiring licenses, and a multitude of mobile titles, these terminations are announced by the company rather frequently, almost every month.
2025 has barely begun, and it’s already a tough year for gamers with Electronic Arts (EA) closing down two games. The first game to bite the dust was Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, which EA pulled the plug on January 16. This left golf enthusiasts like me with fewer modern options to hone our swings. Then, just ten days later, on January 24, EA decided to shut down The Simpsons: Tapped Out, a game that once held a massive mobile gaming community in its virtual Springfield. The closure of this beloved game was heartbreaking for the fans, who started petitions imploring EA to keep it online. Unfortunately, their pleas went unheard and, as scheduled, The Simpsons: Tapped Out was officially shut down, leaving its dedicated community mourning its loss.
Effective from January 29th, a new round of Electronic Arts (EA) games are ceasing operations. The following seven EA titles being discontinued are “Blood & Glory Immortals”, “Contract Killer: Sniper”, “Deer Hunter Classic”, “Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores”, “Eternity Warriors 4”, “Frontline Commando 2” and “Frontline Commando: D-Day”. These games were previously published by EA, but from today onward, they will no longer be accessible. Each one of these games is a mobile title in EA’s portfolio.
List of All EA Games Shutting Down in 2025
- Rory McIlroy PGA Tour – January 16
- The Simpsons: Tapped Out – January 24
- Blood & Glory Immortals – January 29
- Contract Killer: Sniper – January 29
- Deer Hunter Classic – January 29
- Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores – January 29
- Eternity Warriors 4 – January 29
- Frontline Commando 2 – January 29
- Frontline Commando: D-Day – January 29
- UFC 3 – February 17
- EA Sports UFC Mobile 2 – March 13
- NCAA 14 – March 13
- Madden NFL 21 – June 30
Although it’s true that seven Electronic Arts (EA) games are being closed down, the closure of “The Simpsons: Tapped Out” resonated more strongly due to its substantial fanbase. Granted, there may be fans for each of these seven games; however, their shutdowns are unlikely to generate as much commotion. Nonetheless, the potential closing of other EA games in the near future could elicit a similar response akin to “The Simpsons” game.
On February 17th, EA is closing down UFC 3. Following this, on March 13th, EA Sports UFC Mobile 2 and NCAA 14 will also be discontinued. After over a decade of operation, NCAA 14 will cease to exist. Additionally, the online multiplayer features for Madden NFL 21 will no longer function as of June 30th. More EA games may be shut down later in 2025, so fans should stay vigilant to ensure their favorites aren’t among those at risk.
