7 Solo Leveling Characters That Are Stronger Than Jinwoo

This article contains major spoilers for the Solo Leveling Manhwa.

Sung Jinwoo is the main character in the popular series Solo Leveling, and he’s known as one of its strongest fighters. Fans enjoy watching his journey because he starts out incredibly weak and gradually becomes immensely powerful. However, at the end of Season 2, Jinwoo isn’t quite at his full potential yet. There are still several characters in the world of Solo Leveling – including other Hunters – who are more powerful than he is. While Jinwoo is destined to become the strongest, these characters could currently defeat him in a fight.

This list is based on Sung Jinwoo’s power level at the end of Solo Leveling Season 2.

Kandiaru

The Architect of the System

Kandiaru will be a major character in Season 3 of Solo Leveling. He created the System and intends to draw Jinwoo back to the Double Dungeon, hoping to make him the host for Ashborn.

Kandiaru and Jinwoo fight an intense battle, but Jinwoo is at a disadvantage because he can’t rely on his shadow army and must fight on his own. He’s initially outmatched until Ashborn betrays Kandiaru, allowing Jinwoo to acquire the Black Heart.

Thomas Andre

America’s Strongest Hunter

Thomas Andre is a highly-regarded hunter at the national level in the world of Solo Leveling. He’s one of only two national-level hunters representing the USA, and is considered the more powerful of the pair.

Thomas Andre is a remarkably powerful Hunter in the series Solo Leveling. Before Sung Jinwoo unlocks his black heart, he isn’t strong enough to defeat Andre, who is considered the top Hunter in the United States. They do eventually fight, with Jinwoo ultimately winning, but only after he’s become significantly more powerful. Even then, the battle was very difficult for Jinwoo, according to the original light novel.

Liu Zhigang

The Chinese National Level Hunter

Sung Jinwoo is incredibly powerful, much stronger than even the top-ranked Hunters. However, he hasn’t quite reached the level of being the strongest Hunter in the country yet.

Even with Thomas Andre’s power, Liu Zhigang, a top-ranked Hunter from China, remains more powerful than Jinwoo by the end of Season 2. While Jinwoo will eventually become the strongest Hunter, he isn’t even the best in Asia yet.

Sung II-Hwan

Sung Jinwoo’s Father

Readers of Solo Leveling will remember Sung Jinwoo’s father, Sung II-Hwan. He appeared way back in Season 1, and the story has already demonstrated his incredible power – he defeated an S-Rank Hunter with ease.

Right now in the story, Sung Jinwoo is much weaker than his father. When Jinwoo was nearly defeated by the Monarchs, it was Sung II-Hwan who saved him.

Ashborn

The Previous Shadow Monarch

Fans will meet Ashborn in season 3 of Solo Leveling. He’s a crucial character who will give Jinwoo the Black Heart, a significant power boost for his journey.

While Jinwoo has the potential to become incredibly powerful with the Black Heart, he’s currently much weaker than Ashborn, who was once the Shadow Monarch. In fact, Ashborn could easily have taken control of Jinwoo’s body, but he’s chosen to guide and assist him instead, which is the only reason Jinwoo is still alive.

Antares

The Final Boss of the Series

Viewers who are only watching the Solo Leveling anime haven’t met the series’ ultimate villain yet: Antares. He’s an incredibly powerful character, known as the Monarch of Destruction, and is considered the oldest and strongest of all the monarchs in the story.

Currently, Jinwoo isn’t strong enough to defeat Antares. He needs to gain more levels and become much more powerful before he’s ready to face his biggest challenge in Solo Leveling.

The Absolute Being

The God of Solo Leveling

The Absolute Being is one of the biggest mysteries in the Solo Leveling story. Essentially, this being is the god of the Solo Leveling world, responsible for creating both the Monarchs and the Rulers. While the extent of their power isn’t fully known, they are almost certainly far stronger than Sung Jinwoo is right now.
