Many fans began watching Boruto specifically because of these two characters, and it’s understandable why some feel let down by how they’ve been portrayed.

The Naruto series made Naruto and Sasuke into legendary figures, but the Boruto series has taken away their abilities. Currently, both are unable to fight, though they are expected to make a comeback. When they do return, fans anticipate they’ll need to be even more powerful than before, meaning they’ll likely gain new skills and abilities.
