8 Amazing Games You Should Reinstall in 2025

It seems like the end of the year always makes people think about the past – what they accomplished, or wished they had. So, why not apply that same idea to our gaming habits – looking back at what we played and thinking about what we want to play next?

Now’s a great time to look through all the games you own – even that huge list you’ve been meaning to get to! – and find something to enjoy before the year ends. There’s nothing quite like revisiting an old favorite and realizing how amazing it still is.

While everyone focuses on new updates, sequels, and community improvements, many older games have surprisingly become fantastic experiences worth playing again.

Looking for some classic games that still feel great? Here are eight titles you should definitely revisit before the end of 2025.

8. Cyberpunk 2077

Night City Finally Deserves Your Return

Everyone remembers the rocky start Cyberpunk 2077 had, largely because of bugs and performance issues on consoles. However, the intense excitement surrounding the game before its release also played a role in the disappointment many felt.

It’s really common in gaming to get hyped up, and that excitement can sometimes lead to disappointment, even with a good game. Unrealistic expectations can really weigh things down.

That’s why now is the perfect time to play Cyberpunk 2077. The game has finally reached the quality we expected when it first came out, and the initial excitement has died down. It’s a great opportunity to experience V’s story again and appreciate how good the RPG elements truly are.

7. Monster Hunter Rise

The Chillest Monster Grind You Can Return To

It’s always a great time to jump into a Monster Hunter game, and Monster Hunter Rise is a particularly good place to start.

Many players, myself included, consider this Monster Hunter game to be the most enjoyable and well-rounded. Plus, it’s fully updated with all content released, meaning you can start playing immediately and enjoy everything the game has to offer without waiting for future updates or events.

Plus, the game has a dedicated and enthusiastic community that’s still very active – excitement for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds has even boosted that! And with plenty of online guides available, whether you’re new to the game or just prefer a little help, you’ll find assistance readily available.

6. Warframe

The Space Ninja Renaissance Is Real

Warframe can seem overwhelming, especially if you’re new to it or haven’t played in a while. But don’t worry, it’s a great time to jump in and give it a try!

The game has become much more accessible recently, largely thanks to its developer, Digital Extremes. Over the past year, they’ve made substantial improvements, including overhauling key systems, adding new content, and making it easier for new players to pick up and enjoy.

These updates have really energized the game’s community, and as someone who’s been playing for a long time, I can honestly say it’s the most fun it’s been in years. It’s a fantastic game to play with friends!

5. Borderlands 2

Who Doesn’t Love A Bit of Loot And Laughs

The release of Borderlands 4 was a welcome return to the series’ signature over-the-top humor and action, pleasing many fans – myself included. However, the discussions surrounding the new game kept bringing everyone back to how incredibly well Borderlands 2 has aged and how much it still holds up.

I’ve already finished this game three times, and it’s surprisingly even more enjoyable with each playthrough. The story is a real highlight – a welcome improvement for the series – and Handsome Jack is a fantastic villain. You genuinely love to hate him, which makes him so memorable.

With its hilarious writing, memorable characters (especially Gaige!), a huge selection of weapons, fantastic side missions, and the classic, wild co-op experience, this game is definitely worth playing again.

4. Phasmophobia

Still the Best “Horror That Makes You Laugh” Experience

I really love playing horror games with friends, especially when they’re funny, and Phasmophobia is the perfect example. It’s surprisingly still getting more enjoyable – and more frightening – with each passing year.

I’m seriously impressed with what the team at Kinetic Games is doing with Phasmophobia! They’re constantly updating the game, and it feels like they’ve really hit their stride. They keep adding so much new content, making the gameplay more complex and interesting, and even changing how the whole game feels – it’s like they’ve unlocked a new level of development!

Phasmophobia continued to improve this year with significant updates. These included enhancements for consoles, reworked maps, new ghost variations, and adjustments to the game’s difficulty. All of these changes have made the game scarier, more polished, and even more accessible for newcomers, creating a noticeably different experience than before.

3. Undertale

The Indie That Never Stops Surprising You

Now that new chapters of Deltarune are out, I decided to replay Undertale. Even though I’ve beaten it around five times before, it was still surprisingly enjoyable!

As a huge fan, I can honestly say that Undertale is one of those games you can replay endlessly and still find something new – whether it’s a big plot point you missed or just a sweet little detail. But more than that, it’s just a really comforting game for me. It always manages to put a smile on my face from start to finish, and that’s why I love it so much.

Returning to Undertale after a long break is surprisingly like experiencing it for the first time. The game’s charm lies in its subtle details, which is why it’s remained so popular and successful as an indie title.

2. Baldur’s Gate 3

It’s Basically a Director’s Cut Now

As a huge fan, I’m still blown away by how much Larian Studios continues to do with Baldur’s Gate 3! It was already a massive game when it came out, but they haven’t stopped! Over the last two years, they’ve released some incredible updates – everything from big performance improvements to tweaks to the endings and quests, expanded the epilogue, and added so many new ways to roleplay. Seriously, if you’re like me, you’re probably thinking about all the possibilities with The Dark Urge right now!

The game has changed so much since version 1.0 that it feels like a completely new experience. Players who only know the original version will find a lot of new content, improved pacing, and different ways to experience the story.

Honestly, I think Baldur’s Gate 3 is even better now than when it first came out. Larian Studios has consistently supported the game since launch, going above and beyond to improve it and make it a truly polished and in-depth experience.

1. Red Dead Redemption

The Perfect Game to Ride Into A Brand-New Year

With the highly anticipated release of GTA 6 getting closer, now’s a great time to ease the wait and calm any excitement by revisiting another incredible game from Rockstar Games: the original Red Dead Redemption.

It’s clear the game’s creators feel the same way, as a remastered version is coming out before the end of the year. This will offer both existing and new players the best possible way to enjoy John Marston’s story.

It’s great to revisit this timeless classic, which holds up against any Grand Theft Auto game and offers a more sophisticated story and character development. Plus, it remains one of the best open-world games you can play.
