One Piece is a globally famous series, and for good reason. Created by Eiichiro Oda, it’s the best-selling manga of all time, boasting a captivating story, memorable characters, and a richly detailed world that has kept readers engaged for over 28 years. Many consider it the greatest manga ever written. While the manga is exceptional, the anime adaptation hasn’t quite reached the same level of quality.
The animation in the One Piece anime has gotten better lately, but the story still feels rushed at times, and some parts aren’t as strong as they could be. While it’s improving, it doesn’t quite reach the level of other anime adaptations that are truly excellent – some even manage to enhance the original manga!
Attack on Titan
A Gruesome Story About Titans and Humanity
Attack on Titan is a hugely popular anime known for its intense and captivating story. The series starts with a shocking event – the fall of a wall – which immediately draws viewers in. Many fans of the original manga believe the anime adaptation actually improved the story, particularly in its early seasons, before the manga’s artwork fully developed. Overall, Attack on Titan boasts a visually impressive and well-executed anime adaptation.
Takopi’s Original Sin
A Dark But Short Story

“Takopi’s Original Sin” is a breakout hit of 2025. Although the manga wasn’t widely known beforehand, the anime adaptation quickly became popular after just six episodes.
While the story seems charming at first, it quickly reveals a surprisingly dark undertone. The adaptation is exceptionally well done, resulting in some of the best-reviewed episodes this year. It’s also notably more faithful to its source material than the One Piece anime, which sometimes suffers from poor adaptations.
Demon Slayer
The Biggest Shonen at the Moment
When it comes to popular anime, especially in the shonen genre, *Demon Slayer* has become a global phenomenon. Its popularity has soared, particularly after the release of its latest film, *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle*.
The anime adaptation of *Demon Slayer* is fantastic – it doesn’t just retell the manga’s story, it actually improves upon it. While the manga still has good action, it doesn’t compare to the exciting battles shown in the anime series or movies.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
A Melancholic Story Elevated With Stunning Animation

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is quickly becoming a very popular anime. It first aired in 2023 and has gained a large following, thanks to its excellent animation which beautifully adapts the original manga. Viewers are hoping the second season maintains this high level of quality.
Dandadan
One of the Most Popular New Anime Series
I watched as *Dandadan* really took off with its first season last year, and that success continued when the second season came out in 2025. The manga already looked fantastic, but I was surprised by how much the anime improved on the art style, taking it to a whole new level.
People are really into this series, particularly the dynamic and well-animated fight scenes, like the memorable battle between Okarun, Momo, and Turbo Granny. While *One Piece* also features great fights, its animation quality can be inconsistent from episode to episode, and the pacing sometimes feels slow. Series like Dandadan maintain a more consistent level of quality.
Solo Leveling
The Anime of the Year 2025

Solo Leveling is a popular series that has faced some criticism, with some viewers questioning its story and characters. Despite these concerns, the anime adaptation is visually stunning, particularly during action sequences. The battle between Jinwoo and the Ant King in Season 2 was widely considered the best and most impressively animated fight of 2025.
Jujutsu Kaisen
A Fighting Shonen with Incredible Animation
Jujutsu Kaisen has become a very popular series, and its anime adaptation is considered one of the best in recent years. While the first season was good, the second season, directed by Shota Goshozono, was a significant improvement. Jujutsu Kaisen is visually stunning, boasting fantastic animation, sound, and consistent quality – everything you’d want in an adaptation. However, fans are especially excited for Season 3, which is scheduled to be released in early 2026.
The next chapter of One Piece, Chapter 1162, will be released next week, as usual on Sundays. While it becomes available in Japan at midnight on Monday, most international fans will be able to read it on October 12, 2025. You can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
