As a seasoned adventurer who has braved the treacherous lands of Illystana and beyond, I can confidently say that the Undine Flask, Lumina Lantern, and Shade Sight are an unbeatable trifecta in Visions of Mana. I’ve faced down hordes of monsters, towering bosses, and even the occasional dragon, and this combination has never let me down.
Throughout its history, the Mana series is recognized for its frequent incorporation of elementals, either as supporting characters within the narrative or as aesthetic elements in ancillary aspects such as blacksmithing.
In “Visions of Mana”, instead, the elementals grant Elemental Vessels to your team. These vessels alter a player’s character class and can be utilized during combat, bringing forth powerful effects.
Each Elemental Container serves its purpose, yet, similar to most Japanese Role-Playing Games, some inevitably shine and are essential for a player’s inventory.
In this post, we’ll spotlight the Top Elemental Containers within the game “Visions of Mana”, along with some intriguing pairings that can help optimize their abilities.
8 Dryad Spring
Wood Elemental Vessel
The enchanting Dryad Spring establishes a rejuvenating area that revives the health of every member in your group. However, persuading your AI companions to remain within this sanctuary can prove challenging, potentially diminishing its intended effect.
In a tight spot, it proves useful whether all characters are gathered or when the health of your controlled character starts to decrease significantly. Yet, it doesn’t showcase the grandest capabilities among the Elemental Vessels.
Furthermore, the Wood Elemental Vessel is typically unveiled towards the later stages, a time when you might already be using stronger options. Wishfully thinking, if only Visions of Mana included cooperative multiplayer like Secret of Mana.
In most cases, if your character doesn’t belong to the Wood Elemental class, there’s not much advantage in using the Dryad Spring during gameplay, particularly in the advanced stages of Visions of Mana.
7 Gnome Shovel
Earth Elemental Vessel
In combat, the Gnome Shovel functions much like the Dryad Spring. It creates a protective stone barrier that safeguards allies within its vicinity from incoming assaults.
The critical difference is that activating the Gnome Shovel near an enemy can deal damage and even shovel them away. This added offensive utility gives it an edge over the Wood Elemental Vessel.
That said, the Earth Elemental Vessel is ultimately easily replaceable with more versatile options.
If you’re set on a nature-oriented character, you might continue to use the Gnome Shovel. However, if you’re considering other options, we suggest opting for something more suitable instead.
6 Salamando Candle
Fire Elemental Vessel
In this context, we’re moving into a domain where Elemental Vessels have more specific roles. Certain ones excel when faced with powerful individual adversaries like the Salamando Candle, but they struggle in situations requiring crowd control.
The Fire Elemental Vessel stands out for having one of the quickest recharge times compared to other Vessels, enabling players to deliver continuous damage during combat. Moreover, this vessel’s fiery traits cause ongoing fire damage.
Moreover, numerous fire-based character classes are designed primarily for inflicting damage, thus enhancing the attack capabilities of the Salamando Candle over the more defense-oriented Vessels above.
5 Sylphid Boomerang
Wind Elemental Vessel
As a daring adventurer in the magical realm of Visions of Mana, I initially thought that the Wind Elemental Vessel would be the feeble starting point in my journey. Boy, was I wrong! This seemingly modest artifact is far from weak; it packs quite a punch when unleashed against my foes.
The Sylphid Boomerang’s skill generates strong blasts of air towards adversaries, swirling up lighter opponents in a vortex.
Should one of these adversaries perish, the Sylphid Boomerang persists in its journey across the battleground, locating fresh foes to inflict wind-based harm upon.
In combat against individual bosses or opponents, the Sylphid Boomerang doesn’t excel. However, due to the focus on mass battles in Visions of Mana, the Wind Elemental Vessel proves indispensable for swiftly eliminating large groups of enemies.
4 Luna Globe
Moon Elemental Vessel
People who know about “Visions of Mana” might find it surprising to see the Luna Globe in this location. After all, the Lunar Elemental Vessel is indeed quite potent.
In combat, the Lunar Orb stays put right in the center of the battle area. Should an adversary come into contact with it, a protective barrier appears, either momentarily halting time for enemy units or merely slowing down more powerful characters such as bosses.
Moreover, this temporal dome boosts the rate at which party members can cast spells, further enhancing its powerful time-freezing abilities.
The power of the Moon Elemental Vessel is unquestionable. Freezing time allows you to unleash attacks on enemies or even top up your party members’ HP.
Instead, the effectiveness of the time-freezing ability hinges solely on the power of your teammates. If you can’t inflict sufficient damage, freezing time becomes meaningless. Moreover, even the toughest adversaries often disregard this effect.
Tip: Combining the Luna Globe with the Undine Flask or Salamando Candle creates a powerful chain effect. Both Vessels have strong AoE potential, and when enemies are tied together and immobilized, the damage multiplies exponentially.
3 Shade Sight
Darkness Elemental Vessel
We’ve reached the top three Elemental Vessels, starting with a combination I used throughout most of my playthrough of Visions of Mana, with only a few rare exceptions.
In the game, the Elemental Vessel of Darkness is the final one you acquire, and at first glance, it may seem unimpressive. However, when activated with Shade Sight, it attracts nearby smaller creatures towards your character, or draws your character closer to bigger adversaries instead.
Despite the swift recharge time, some players find the impact of the ability underwhelming, often causing them to disregard it.
Nevertheless, the ultimate Artifact you acquire in Visions of Mana showcases its full power through combinations. The game subtly suggests this through its storyline, implying that Darkness balances Light and conversely, Light balances Darkness. This relationship will be further elaborated on in the following section.
2 Lumina Lantern
Light Elemental Vessel
In the game “Visions of Mana”, the Lumina Lantern becomes an unforeseen addition to your collection, imbuing your party with the might of the Light Elemental Vessel.
In battle, the Lumina Lantern connects surrounding enemies, so if one is affected by an ability, the others will also experience a scaled-down version of that same effect.
Yet, it’s worth noting that the decrease doesn’t affect negative conditions or additional modifications, like those from different Artifacts. It’s in these instances where the synergy between Lumina Lantern and Shade Sight becomes particularly effective.
One character could utilize the Lumina Lantern to connect multiple adversaries, and another would activate Shade Sight on any linked opponent. Rather than the Darkness Elemental Vessel drawing in a single enemy, it now attracts the whole interconnected group.
By confining all adversaries to a limited space, you can effectively enhance the performance of various Elemental Items, including the Gnomish Spade and the Lunar Orb, making them work more efficiently.
For optimal damage output, consider having a third party member use the Undine Flask instead.
1 Undine Flask
Water Elemental Vessel
In the game “Visions of Mana,” you can acquire the Water Elemental Vessel following the storyline in Illystana. This flask, known as the Undine Flask, shoots jets of water at your foes, encasing them in bubbles. If you attack these trapped enemies, the bubbles burst, dealing area-of-effect (AoE) damage to any surrounding opponents.
By itself, the Undine Flask possesses a significant amount of power. Not only does it inflict damage, but it also pushes away smaller foes, creating a bit of space for your team to maneuver more comfortably.
In combat, even though bigger foes and bosses cannot be shoved, they are enclosed within bubbles that burst to deal additional damage. Rarely will a situation arise where the Undine Flask is ineffective or unwanted for use.
Picture this scenario: The trio of Darkness, Light, and Water Elemental Vessels combined. With Lumina Lantern and Shade Sight abilities used to cluster all adversaries, the final teammate will then utilize the Undine Flask.
The powerful water streams will strike everyone in the vicinity, encapsulate them in bubbles, and finally burst, causing significant harm.
Throughout most of the endgame, I found myself heavily relying on this potent three-person team. Even in challenging modes, fights rarely extended beyond a blink of an eye thanks to their incredible synergy.
In the game “Visions of Mana,” I haven’t discovered a more effective trio than these three elementals, although they may not be as efficient in boss fights where individual Elemental Vessels might be more suitable.
