Hytale is now available in Early Access and has quickly become popular with both players and reviewers. TopMob especially liked their first experience with the game, and the developers are already releasing frequent updates.
Like many games still in early development, Hytale currently has limited content, with some features marked as still being worked on. If you’ve been enjoying the game so far but want a more complete experience, there’s good news – more content is on the way. It’s not a reflection of the game’s quality, just its current stage of development.
Here are eight games that you should play if you like Hytale.
Minecraft
Let’s start with Minecraft, as it’s clear Hytale was strongly inspired by it. The developers actually began their work by creating mini-games and servers for Minecraft!
If you’ve enjoyed Hytale but haven’t tried Minecraft, you really should. Despite the similar block-based style, Minecraft offers a huge amount to do – from surviving dangerous nights to exploring diverse landscapes. It’s the original game that pioneered this type of open-world experience.
Terraria
Looking at Terraria’s 2D graphics, you might question how it compares to Hytale. However, even though the games look quite different, they actually share many of the same core gameplay elements.
Terraria has tons of monsters and bosses to battle, and it’s always fun to dig for resources and upgrade your equipment. The game has a lot of depth, with a rewarding progression system, and the underground world is vast and complex – especially if you’re new to the game!
Vintage Story
Vintage Story is a fantastic, yet often overlooked, survival game with a block-based style. While it might look similar to games like Minecraft or Hytale, it offers a much more challenging and realistic survival experience. If you found Hytale too lighthearted, Vintage Story could be a perfect fit.
Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley might seem like a basic farming game at first glance, but it’s actually much deeper than that. While farming is a big part of the experience, you can also explore caves, go fishing, and even develop relationships with the townspeople – it offers a surprisingly diverse range of activities!
If you loved the relaxing feel of Hytale and are looking for a game you can really sink your teeth into for a long time, Stardew Valley, with its hundreds of hours of gameplay, could be perfect for you – it’s time to start farming!
Valheim
Hytale, despite looking different, is actually quite similar to Valheim. Like Valheim, the main way to improve your character is by exploring the world, finding better materials, and battling enemies and dangers along the way.
While both Valheim and Hytale are still in development, Valheim is more complete and offers a lot more to do right now. If you’re eager to experience a Viking adventure, Valheim is a great choice.
Disney Dreamlight Valley
Disney Dreamlight Valley offers a surprising amount of gameplay. It’s a unique blend of life simulation and adventure, and that description really hits the mark.
Although it doesn’t have the survival gameplay of Hytale, Disney Dreamlight Valley offers similar experiences when it comes to building a home base and going on adventures. If you enjoyed those parts of Hytale and you’re a fan of Disney, this game is definitely worth checking out.
Enshrouded
Even though it’s still in early development, Enshrouded deserves attention, especially for its amazing building features. It’s surprisingly easy to create impressive structures, but the game offers much more than just building – there’s a whole world to explore and experience.
Discover and endure in a huge, open world brimming with hidden secrets and dangerous foes. While the world is challenging, you’ll be able to craft tons of useful items and equipment to help you along the way. It feels a bit like Valheim and Hytale, but this is a top-tier survival game that’s definitely worth playing.
Modded Minecraft
This last suggestion might seem simple, but it’s worth considering. If you like Hytale and find Minecraft lacking in some ways, try using mods! Minecraft is very popular for modding, and the right ones can completely change how the game plays.
