The Boruto series has often faced criticism, particularly regarding its main character, Boruto Uzumaki. Many fans still don’t accept Boruto as part of the official Naruto story, largely because it differs in setting, overall themes, and, most importantly, its protagonist.

Many fans prefer to keep watching the story of Naruto Uzumaki as the Seventh Hokage rather than follow Boruto’s adventures.

It’s frustrating because no matter what these characters do in Boruto, a lot of viewers just can’t seem to warm up to them. They really struggle to win us over!

Boruto Uzumaki is the central character of the series, and that’s precisely why many dedicated fans struggle to embrace him. Simply put, he’s not like Naruto. In fact, he’s almost the reverse of Naruto, who worked tirelessly to achieve his current position.

No matter how much the show’s creator discourages it, people will naturally compare Boruto to more popular anime heroes. This sets him up for a lot of criticism, which is likely why he’s often disliked by fans of both the anime and manga.

Konohamaru Sarutobi

Repeated defeats, being constantly taken advantage of, and consistently making bad choices eroded his initial appeal and made him less threatening and interesting.

I remember when Code seemed like a major threat in Boruto, right after Isshiki. But after Eida and Daemon were done with him, Jura and his Shinju clones made quick work of him. Then, after the time skip, Boruto completely dominated him – it was a bit sad, honestly, seeing such a once-scary villain become almost a joke. Still, I think there’s a chance for Code to become relevant again if the story lets him.

Konoha Council

  • The Konoha Council brings more problems than solutions to the Hokage and the village.

Following Danzo Shimura’s death, only Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane remained on the Konoha Council. They were known for hindering advancement, consistently making poor and old-fashioned choices that negatively impacted the Leaf Village.

The Konoha Council in Boruto keeps interfering with village matters. Though they think they’re keeping Konoha safe and stable, they often cause trouble for Boruto and his friends. Plus, they always seem to act at the worst possible times, making already stressful situations even worse. It’s no surprise many fans are just waiting for them to retire!

Amado Sanzu

  • Fans hate how Amado consistently withheld vital intel. He is overly suspicious.

Similar to Naruto, the Boruto series is full of characters with secret plans, and Amado is a prime example. This eccentric scientist constantly frustrates others by withholding crucial information, controlling his inventions, and making people question what he’s really up to.

Throughout the story, Amado continues to be a character viewers don’t quite trust. He constantly walks the line between helping and hindering, and this unpredictability has been true from the beginning. He seems focused solely on his own goals and bringing his daughter back to life.

Mamushi

Honestly, as a fan, I always feel a little let down when I see Mamushi’s Rinnegan. It’s such a powerful dojutsu, but he barely uses it! It’s always there, on display, but it feels like a wasted opportunity.

Denki

Many viewers of the Boruto anime are critical of the character Denki, who appears only in the animated series. Unlike other students, Denki struggles in battles, which some fans find uninteresting. He rarely uses any special techniques and struggles to win fights on his own. Because of this, many believe he doesn’t quite fit into the action-packed world of a shonen manga like Boruto.
