Summary
- The new Mario Kart World Direct highlighted eight tracks coming to the game.
- This includes five brand-new tracks and three returning from past titles.
- The game will launch alongside the Switch 2 on June 5.
During this week’s broadcast known as the “Mario Kart World” Nintendo Direct, eight fresh courses were unveiled, along with a commitment to include tracks from previous games. The “Mario Kart World” was one of the first games announced for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and a sneak peek at the latest iteration of the Nintendo kart racer was shown during the reveal of the Switch 2 in January. In April’s livestream dedicated to the Nintendo Switch 2, fans received a broader look at “Mario Kart World”, which confirmed its name and indicated that it will be released simultaneously with the console on June 5.
The charm of the Mario Kart series lies in racing through vibrant tracks as cherished Nintendo characters. With Mario Kart World, players are in for a bigger and more interconnected gaming experience than they’ve ever had before. They can now participate in races using Grand Prix mode, and the new Free Roam feature allows them to freely explore the game’s diverse landscapes at their leisure.
8 new environments were unveiled and labeled during the April 17 broadcast of the Nintendo Direct for Mario Kart World. The first one is Mario Bros. Circuit, a desert town where players can speed along adjacent cliffsides. Next up is Crown City, an expansive urban landscape teeming with shortcuts and airborne boost jumps for racers to exploit. Salty Salty Speedway offers competitors the chance to sail through its waterways, while Starview Peak boasts icy turns that could easily catch drivers off-guard if they’re not careful. Last but not least is Boo Cinema, a haunted movie theater filled with spooky Boos that surprise drivers at every corner.
