Long before the current events in Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK), many incredibly powerful sorcerers existed. These sorcerers lived throughout history, starting with the Heian Era and continuing for centuries. The series has showcased a number of these strong characters, and surprisingly, many of them have reappeared during the Culling Game Arc.

Fans finally got a good look at the abilities of these characters, and it’s clear that sorcerers from the past were incredibly powerful. While there are many to choose from, only a select few truly stand out as the most powerful Ancient Sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Ryu Ishigori

Rio Ishigori was a remarkably strong character featured prominently in the Culling Game Arc. He made a deal with Kenjaku that brought him back to life in the present day. Ryu Ishigori demonstrated incredible power, as seen in his battles with fighters like Yuta Okkotsu. However, he wasn’t able to defeat Sukuna. Despite this, he was a formidable opponent with an exceptionally large amount of cursed energy.

Takako Uro

Takako Uno was a remarkably powerful figure in the Heian era, within the world of JJK. Her cursed technique, Sky Manipulation, made her a formidable opponent. Beyond this, she possessed an exceptionally large amount of cursed energy and could perform advanced techniques like Domain Expansion. While the specifics of her Domain Expansion are currently unknown, it’s confirmed that she was capable of using it.

Angel

Angel isn’t the strongest physically, but fans recognize her as having one of the most powerful abilities in Jujutsu Kaisen. She can completely nullify any other cursed technique with her innate ability, Technique Extinguishment. In fact, with her Jacob’s Ladder attack, she could have even defeated Sukuna if he hadn’t tricked her.

Jacob’s Ladder represents the pinnacle of her abilities, capable of purifying individuals burdened with vast quantities of cursed energy.

Uraume

Uraume is a character who’s appeared frequently in Jujutsu Kaisen. They have the ability to create ice, and they’re clearly very skilled with it. While the full extent of their power is still a mystery, it’s been demonstrated that they can fight on equal footing with incredibly strong modern sorcerers like Hakari.

Uraume is incredibly skilled, and considering how long she’s served alongside Sukuna, it’s clear she’s far more powerful than she lets on. We’ve probably only seen a small fraction of her true abilities.

Kashimo

Kashimo, nicknamed the Lightning God, was a legendary figure who lived 400 years ago and was considered one of the most powerful individuals ever. He has an immense amount of cursed energy that manifests as lightning.

He can use a special ability called the Mythical Beast Amber Technique, letting him create anything powered by electricity. He proved incredibly powerful against a weakened Sukuna, easily overpowering him. But once Sukuna fully regained his strength, the fight was over almost instantly.

Yorozu

Fans recognize Yorozu as a remarkably strong figure from Japan’s Heian period, and she was central to the Culling Game Arc. During this arc, she inhabited Tsumiki’s body, giving viewers a full display of her abilities. Yorozu’s innate technique was Construction – an ability also shared by Mai – but Yorozu had mastered it to an exceptional degree, allowing her to demonstrate incredible power.

She’d become so skilled with her abilities that she was able to create a Domain Expansion. This allowed her to fight Sukuna, and she might have even won if things had played out differently.

Kenjaku

Kenjaku is a truly evil sorcerer in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. He’s notorious for taking over people’s bodies, which allows him to steal their powers. His most important possession has been the body of Suguru Geto.
