In the world of One Piece, one of the greatest enigmas fans are well-acquainted with is the National Treasure of Marijoa. This artifact was only briefly touched upon during Law’s fight against Doflamingo, but since then, there’s been a dearth of information about it. Fans are anxiously anticipating the day when Eiichiro Oda will finally unveil the National Treasure of Marijoa, oblivious to the possibility that Oda might have already hinted at its whereabouts within the narrative of One Piece.
The National Treasure of Marijoa Was Introduced In Dressrosa
- Doflamingo Wanted To Get His Hands On It
- It Would Make Him King Of the World
In One Piece chapter 761, the enigma surrounding Marijoa’s National Treasure was introduced during Law’s battle against Doflamingo. Though fans have yet to fully understand its nature, Oda has left hints that shed light on its true identity. To gain a clearer insight into it, one simply needs to scrutinize Doflamingo’s comments regarding the National Treasure of Marijoa.
That’s because I know of the existence of the secret treasure that lies in Marijoa! — Doflamingo
Law inquired from Doflamingo how he managed to maintain significant power even after losing his Celestial Dragon status, and furthermore, how he could influence groups like CP0. In response, Doflamingo shared something crucial with Law. Doflamingo revealed that his power stems from knowledge of a hidden treasure in Marijoa. He claimed that if this treasure was exposed to the world, it would cause a massive upheaval.
Later in his discussion, he mentions that he once had a chance to utilize the National Treasure of Marijoa, but only with the possession of the Ope Ope no Mi could he have been successful.
Why Imu Is The National Treasure Of Marijoa
Imu Fits The Description Perfectly
It seems fans may be puzzling over who or what the National Treasure is, perhaps envisioning it as an artifact. However, the reality is that the National Treasure is a person, none other than Imu Nerona, someone originating from the Void Century itself. This revelation would undeniably cause chaos in the world, given Imu’s status as a monarch. Keeping Doflamingo from revealing this secret necessitated giving him power and latitude to act as he wished.
The existence of that treasure will shake the entire world. — Doflamingo
Concurrently, the ability of the Ope Ope no Mi could have enabled Doflamingo to claim the title of King, as he could potentially assume the persona of Imu through its power of personality swapping and utilize the National Treasure accordingly.
How Doflamingo Could’ve Gained The National Treasure of Marijoa
From my vantage point, it’s clear that Doflamingo’s ambition wasn’t about becoming the Pirate King, but rather, he sought to govern the entire world. His primary goal was achieving immortality, ensuring his existence would transcend the boundaries of time. Once this was accomplished, his intention was to transfer his immortal essence into Imu, thereby gaining control of the world through that powerful figure.
It’s quite possible that Imu employed a similar technique to acquire power. The Ope Ope no Mi may have been utilized to grant Imu eternal life, as Ivankov suggested, and then, it seems likely that Imu changed bodies, explaining why Oda keeps Imu’s true identity concealed at all times.
