As a gamer, I can hardly contain my excitement when I hear Capcom reported an astounding 10.1 million units sold in just the first month of its release. And to think that the financial year only includes the initial days of Wilds’ debut, makes the figure even more mind-blowing. Now, I can’t wait to see what the rest of its release cycle brings!
Approximately five of Capcom’s best-selling video games for the year were from the Monster Hunter series, with Resident Evil 4 being the sole exception. Combined sales of World, Iceborne, Rise, Sunbreak, and earlier Monster Hunter titles amounted to a staggering 10.4 million units, only narrowly surpassing the sales of Wilds itself.
It appears that the hype surrounding Wilds contributed significantly to those sales last year. In fiscal year 2023, the series managed to sell a total of 9.4 million units, which is a considerable increase compared to previous years. According to Capcom’s latest report, the global sales of the Monster Hunter series surpassed 100 million units, thereby boosting the brand value of the company.
For fiscal year 24, Capcom reported that 20.5 million units of the Monster Hunter series were sold, which contributed to a record-breaking total of 51.9 million games sold across all their titles.
