Summary
- Tractors and trucks are essential in Farming Simulator 25 for any type of crop, prioritizing transportation efficiency.
- The Lizard Dragon is a cost-effective starter truck with a secondary Tipper option for quicker progress.
- Volvo FH 16 stands out as the best truck choice in the game with its powerful engine and overall value.
Starting a fresh journey in Farming Simulator 25 doesn’t necessarily mean you need every piece of equipment the game offers. The choice of machinery often depends on the kind of farm you manage and the type of crops you cultivate. Yet, there are some essential machines that are useful regardless of your specific situation.
A tractor, much like an essential tool for any farming endeavor, serves a similar purpose as a truck. Initially, trailers attached to a tractor might suffice for moving objects, but as the game advances and more opportunities arise, a tractor can effectively take over the role of a truck.
8. International CV Series
Base Price: $67,500

- Engine Power: 350 HP
- Fuel Capacity: 246 L
This compact pickup truck isn’t equipped to tow trailers, but it makes an excellent starting point for new farming ventures, particularly for those embarking from ground zero. Despite the CV Series boasting a stronger engine than the Lizard Dragon, this advantage doesn’t grant it a lead over its tiny counterpart in this comparison.
The CV Series offers various extension styles like Flat, Boxed, and Tipper, but during gameplay, it’s primarily the Tipper that holds significant value for players, unless someone is running a concurrent business instead of farming. Regarding the size of the Tipper in the CV Series, there’s just one option equivalent to the base version of Lizard Dragon (3,500 L). However, Lizard Dragon has an additional larger Tipper too, which makes it a worthwhile investment despite being more expensive than the basic CV.
7. Lizard Dragon
Base Price: $45,000

- Engine Power: 170 HP
- Fuel Capacity: 180 L
Regarding the compact Lizard Dragon truck, it may seem small but is a potent entry-level vehicle offering great value for transporting farm produce either raw or processed. Unlike the mighty CV Series, it lacks in fuel capacity and engine power; however, it boasts an additional Tipper feature with a massive 7,600 L capacity, more than double that of the International CV Series.
Adding this additional feature to Lizard Dragon will bump up its cost by approximately $4,000, a negligible amount considering its worth. With a larger expansion, players can reduce their travel time significantly between the farm and the silo, accelerating their progression and making gameplay more efficient.
6. Mack Anthem 6×4
Base Price: $93,500

- Engine Power: 425 HP
- Fuel Capacity: 606 L
The Mack Anthem 6×4 model represents a contemporary truck offering numerous personalization choices within a mid-price range. Despite this, its power engine falls short of justifying its cost. While it boasts an appealing appearance, there isn’t much distinction between the Mack Anthem and the relatively affordable International Transtar 2 Eagle truck in terms of overall value.
If a person has saved approximately $90,000 towards buying a truck, opting for a Mack Anthem might not be practical. A more sensible approach would be to explore less expensive alternatives or keep saving money until you can afford a Volvo or a Super-Liner.
5. Volvo FH Electric
Base Price: $145,000

- Engine Power: 450 HP
- Battery Capacity: 360 KWH
From a price perspective, opting for the Volvo FH Electric may not seem like a practical decision. The issue lies in its higher price tag compared to the FH 16 model, without necessarily offering superior performance. In its fully upgraded state, the FH Electric boasts an engine power of approximately 660 HP, which is comparable to the base version of the FH 16. However, this advanced version comes at a cost of around $200,000.
If a person doesn’t opt for the FH Electric primarily because it’s eco-friendly and kind to nature, then they wouldn’t have a compelling reason to choose it over the FH 16, as both vehicles share a design aesthetic to some extent.
4. Volvo VNX 300
Base Price: $149,500

- Engine Power: 500 HP
- Fuel Capacity: 1075 L
In Farming Simulator 25, the priciest truck, the Volvo VNX 300, excels only in one area: fuel capacity. It outperforms the FH 16 in this aspect alone. If you dislike frequent refueling, the VNX 300 could be a suitable choice; however, its larger 300 L fuel tank doesn’t necessarily make it a worthwhile investment.
Regarding its aesthetic appeal, the Volvo VNX 300 leans towards a more American design compared to the FH 16, which might attract some buyers despite the higher price tag. Notably, the base model of the VNX 300 is more potent than the FH Electric, but it lacks the option for engine upgrades, unlike its counterpart.
3. Mack Super-Liner 6×4
Base Price: $110,000

- Engine Power: 500 HP
- Fuel Capacity: 400 L
Individuals who lack the endurance or financial resources to acquire an FH 16, but require a potent vehicle for towing trailers of various types, will find the Mack Super-Liner a worthwhile alternative. This truck is reasonably priced and boasts a dependable engine performance, although it does not offer any upgrade options.
As a gamer, I’ve found that one minor drawback in Super-Liner gameplay is its relatively compact fuel tank. This means I’ll need to refuel more frequently compared to other trucks, which can be quite time-consuming and budget-draining, although it might not bother everyone.
Instead of saying “With that said, Super-Liner is a good pick compared to alternatives like FH Electric and Mack Anthem, but it may lack a contemporary aesthetic,” you could say “All things considered, Super-Liner stands out as a solid option against others such as FH Electric and Mack Anthem. However, it might not have the sleek, modern appearance that some seek.
2. International Transtar 2 Eagle
Base Price: $45,000

- Engine Power: 400 HP
- Fuel Capacity: 755 L
For farmers looking to upgrade from the Lizard Dragon as it no longer suits their needs, a versatile truck capable of hauling trailers becomes an invaluable asset. If you’re on a budget but still want a reliable solution, consider opting for the International Transtar 2 Eagle – it delivers the performance without burning through your savings.
I find it intriguing that a colossal truck, much like the Lizard Dragon in cost, holds its own in most tests. However, when hauling trailers weighing more than 10 tons while fully loaded, the Transtar 2 Eagle experiences difficulties climbing steep slopes, and if the incline is particularly harsh, it might not make it. The silver lining here is that heavier trailers of such weight are quite rare in my experience.
1. Volvo FH 16
Base Price: $137,000

- Engine Power: 600 HP
- Fuel Capacity: 755 L
In Farming Simulator 25, the Volvo FH 16 stands head and shoulders above other trucks. It’s a fantastic choice for hauling trailers, much like it is in real-world scenarios. With even the heaviest trailer fully loaded, the FH 16 continues to perform exceptionally well.
This model boasts an exceptionally potent base engine that’s capable of further enhancement. The advantage lies in its cost-effectiveness, as it’s significantly less expensive than larger tractors. Despite being the most powerful truck currently available, it’s not the priciest option on the market. In essence, FH 16 is an ideal investment for those with the means, as they will find no need for another truck afterwards.
