In “Doom: The Dark Ages,” each chapter has a unique completion rate based on the items collected during gameplay. Chapter 4, Sentinel Barracks, introduces an exciting new weapon – the Shredder – and features a thrilling boss battle with a classic series antagonist at the end. Yet, there are numerous secret and easily accessible collectibles scattered throughout this chapter that players must find to achieve a perfect completion score. Here’s where you can find them all.
All Collectibles in Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 4 Sentinel Barracks
In Chapter 4 Sentinel Barracks of Doom: The Dark Ages, there are seven distinct categories of items for players to track down. Many of these items are frequently found across other chapters, but there are several unique ones, such as the Demonic Essence – Armor, which is exclusive to this chapter (and a few others). Below is a comprehensive list of all the collectibles featured in this chapter.
- 212x Gold (To purchase upgrades from Sentinel Shrines)
- 2x Ruby (To unlock certain upgrades in weapon skill tree)
- 1x Demonic Essence – Armor (To Increase maximum armor)
- 6x Secrets (Exploring secret areas)
- 1x Codex Entry (Provides players with additional lore about the world and key characters)
- 1x Collectibles Toy (Collectible figurines)
- 1x Skin (Nightmare variant of weapon skins)
The items listed here are introduced sequentially as a player advances naturally through Chapter 4.
#1 First Secret Area with Gold & Hell Knight Toy
You’ll come across the initial set of collectibles soon after obtaining the Shredder weapon, managing to get past a chamber brimming with demons. Proceed towards the castle’s outer area and vanquish the heavily-armored Mancubus.
After re-entering while keeping an eye on your quest guide, you’ll find yourself in a long corridor teeming with shielded demons and ending with a Mancubus. Instead of confronting the enemies up ahead, glance to your left at the beginning of the hallway and smash through the barrier using Shield Charge to access the first hidden area within Chapter 4 of Doom: The Dark Ages.
In this location, you’ll discover Gold strewn about, with a Hell Knight statue standing prominently on the central stage. As you depart, you’ll collect extra Gold by climbing the stairs and re-entering the Mancubus corridor.
#2 Second Secret Area with Gold
Once you’ve defeated the Mancubus in the corridor, players will find themselves in a room containing an elevator and a central button. Before pressing the button, move towards the left side of the elevator, and you’ll notice a glowing neon green Shield Jump platform. Leap onto it to ascend to the upper level and gather all the gold that can be found there.
Once you’ve made it to the far end of the hall, go ahead and employ the Shield Charge to move that immense block across to the opposite side. Then, hop over the block to get to the hidden area above where you can find all the treasure, including a golden chest.
#3 Gold Only
Go back to the central area and position yourself near the center button to lower the elevator. When it has reached the bottom, employ your Shield Saw Throw skill to cut the chain that’s keeping the elevator in place, thus uncovering a hidden passage within the shaft.
Move forward by scaling the elevator tunnel, and you’ll find yourself in a round space containing some gold at its center. Encountering this location will initiate a battle against demons surprise-attacking the Doom Slayer.
#4 Third Secret Area with Gold and a Life Sigil
Following the eradication of foes within the circular perimeter and moving through the doors that lie ahead, players will find themselves in a corridor where adversaries charge from the opposite direction. Swiftly dispose of these opponents by targeting explosive containers scattered on the floor beneath your feet. Once the area has been made safe, you’ll notice a small lever close to a shut door at the start of the new location.
After you turn on the switch, trace the path of golden objects to reach the higher area, where you’ll discover not one, but two substantial heaps of gold, along with a Life Symbol.
#5 First Ruby Location
As I delved deeper into chapter 4 of Doom: The Dark Ages, it’s only natural that I stumbled upon my first Ruby piece. This treasure was conveniently marked on my mission map. Not long after scouring the last collectible area, I received a transmission from Command Thira in a room teeming with soldiers. It was here where I discovered the first of the coveted Rubies.
#6 Fourth Secret Area with Gold and a Life Sigil
Following the accomplishment of the “Defend the Barracks” goal within the “Doom the Dark Ages” chapter 4, players will subsequently leave the castle and enter an open space. Upon reaching the bridge, make a left turn and leap over the abyss to the field on the left side.
Keep moving along the golden pathway, as it leads you to the fourth concealed location where you’ll find a Life Sigil. To escape this area, activate your Shield Charge near the barrier.
#7 Demonic Heart – Armor
Once you’ve left the fourth hidden location, cross over the bridge whereupon you’ll encounter a horde of demonic adversaries including two Mancubi. Overpower these two Mancubis and eliminate the Pinky Rider lurking at the rear. This action will summon an additional armored Mancubus, which can be identified by a shield symbol on its head.
In this sentence, I’ve tried to keep the original meaning while using more natural language, making it easier for readers to understand.
Overpower the heavily-armored Mancubus creature, then execute a lethal Glory Kill move to tear out and squash its heart. This special armor for players, called the Demonic Heart, enhances your maximum armor level.
#8 Fifth Secret Area with Gold and Second Ruby
Once you’ve retrieved the Demonic Heart from the armored Mancubus, continue along the main path until you come across a collapsed bridge. On the far side of the bridge, make a U-turn to discover a concealed area below.
Leap across the gap and ascend the ledge, ensuring you stick to the trail embellished with golden pieces. Be aware that foes inhabit the following chamber, and explosive fire traps are lurking in the walls. Tread cautiously as you defeat the adversaries while skillfully avoiding the flaming obstacles. Continuing your journey will guide players towards the fifth hidden location. Retrieve the gemstone from the statue situated close to the locked doors and proceed along the path to amass additional wealth.
#9 Gold Chest
Following your departure from the fifth hidden location in Chapter 4 of “Doom: The Dark Ages,” you will reappear at the damaged bridge. Now, traverse the bridge and leap over the void to get to the tower on the other side. Moving rightward, ascend the stairs, which will lead you to a room inside the tower where a Gold chest is centrally positioned. Be aware that there’s an unseen demon lurking within, so ensure you deal with it during your visit.
#10 Sixth Secret Area with Accelerator’s Nightmare Skin and Gold
Once you arrive at the outskirts of the town, go down one floor and veer right towards the row of structures. You’ll find a staircase that ascends to the elevated part of the region, which has a golden trim.
After you’ve made it to the Sixth Hidden Region, you’ll discover the Nightmare skin for the Accelerator weapon tucked away in a space sandwiched by buildings, specifically where a squad of soldiers is stationed.
#11 Codex Page Location & Gold
In Chapter 4 of “Doom the Dark Ages”, leave the sixth hidden area and descend into the lower part of the town filled with hordes of enemies. After eliminating some of these foes, ascend the stairs, and you’ll notice a large structure at the map’s corner. Nearby this building, there are several carts that you must destroy to collect piles of Gold.
Next, head towards the mission symbol until you come across a door fortified with a wooden barrier. Take a left at the door and climb the path ahead to find the remaining Gold for Chapter 4, along with the Codex Entry.
