The forthcoming Nintendo Switch 2 has unveiled several first-party intellectual properties and third-party games scheduled to debut on the console, and the independently funded 2D platformer “Aurascope” is preparing to join the lineup as well. With its funding target swiftly met and a stretch goal for a Nintendo Switch 2 port achieved, “Aurascope” combines light puzzle mechanics and RPG features within vibrant settings, offering a refreshing gaming experience similar to classic Nintendo releases.
As we approach June 5, when the latest Nintendo system will be available to players, there’s a lot of excitement about the expanding collection of Switch 2 launch titles and future games planned for the console. Developers, whether AAA or indie, are focusing on the next phase of Nintendo gaming, and one lively Kickstarter project has already secured its place on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Originally created by Nick Oztok, the game titled “Aurascope” is a 2D action-adventure collectathon that surpassed its initial $30,000 Kickstarter goal on April 23. In less than a month, total funding has soared over $49,000, triggering several stretch goals such as Nintendo Switch and potential future Nintendo Switch 2 adaptations. The game follows the dual protagonists Trace and Aurora as they explore the mysteries of the enchanted Aurascope, using its powers to gather Energy Cores and rejuvenate the energy of the Starlight Islands. “Aurascope” boasts interactive environments, diverse adversaries, numerous collectibles, and a variety of game modes. Reminiscent of platforming games like the Kirby and Shantae series, players will acquire new skills as they advance and must apply these abilities to conquer challenges in “Aurascope‘s” platforming escapade.
Aurascope Kickstarter Funding Goals
- $30,000: Adventure Mode, Battle Mode, Challenge Mode, PC and Steam release
- $35,000: Extra Side Mode Content, battle arenas, challenge levels, minigames, Boss Rush
- $45,000: Extra Adventure Mode Content, bonus levels, missions, and items, Scarlet Dungeon, dedicated online for all modes
- $60,000: Xbox and PlayStation Ports, New Roguelike Mode, ever-changing dungeon, new Aurascope abilities and items
- $90,000: New Secondary Adventure Campaign, new playable character, post-launch content
- Unknown: Mystery Unlock
Aurascope lets players personalize their gaming experience according to various play styles as they progress through the primary Adventure storyline, engage in competitive co-op matches, and tackle a variety of challenge modes. Unlocked Kickstarter stretch goals include additional modes such as Boss Rush and Scarlet Dungeon, with future funding targets aiming to incorporate a roguelike dungeon mode, a separate campaign, and an extra playable character. By merging classic 2D adventure platforming and RPG gameplay aspects, Aurascope is now available for pre-order on Steam and slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. If funding goals are met, versions for Xbox and PlayStation will also be developed.

Given the swift selling out of early pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 and persistent backing from audiences for new console releases, it’s hardly unexpected that Aurascope incorporated the platform in its stretch goals. As of now, there’s no fixed release date for Aurascope, but enthusiasts of retro-style platforming video games can keep an eye out for further announcements about this upcoming title and other indie projects.
