In Destiny 2, The Hunter’s Withering Blade skill is a reliable choice for both damaging and slowing down opponents. When paired with the Mask of Fealty Exotic helmet, this ability gains an extra boost. Equipping the mask allows players to scatter Stasis Crystals and Withered Blades across entire rooms. This can lead to swift elimination of groups of enemies as soon as they come into view.
Here’s a variation of the Hunter build that centers around the Mask of Fealty Exotic, emphasizing dodging alongside enemies and repeatedly using Withering Blade. This straightforward yet potent setup offers impressive area-of-effect damage, making it ideal for challenging encounters with numerous additional foes, which are common in most endgame content.

The Mask of Fealty revolves around the Withering Blade, a powerful melee attack used by Stasis Hunters. Once you put on this Exotic helmet, it grants you the following ability:
- Null Factor: Withering Blade hits and bounces create a small Stasis crystal and refund a portion of melee energy. Using Withering Blade to shatter crystals or frozen targets releases a spread of Withering Blades.
Equipping this Exotic weapon causes your Melee attack, the Withering Blade, to return a significant portion of your melee energy and generate small Stasis Crystals on the battlefield. If you strike a frozen enemy or one of these crystals with the Withering Blade, it triggers a chain reaction of exploding Stasis crystals that launch additional Withering Blades, creating even more crystals. This strategy is designed to maximize the impact of this cascading effect.
In this construction, we primarily employ the Prismatic Hunter subclass for optimal Fragment interactions. The Mask of Fealty functions seamlessly within a Stasis Hunter setup that’s purely focused on abilities, particularly when paired with the Glacier Grenade.
Aspects and Fragments
Combining Winter’s Shroud, Threaded Specter, and Gambler’s Dodge results in an effective combo. When used together, you can expect:
- Slow nearby enemies while dodging.
- Regain a Withering Blade charge after dodging.
- Create an aggro-attracting clone after dodging.
If you find yourself frequently succumbing to battles, you might want to switch from Threaded Specter to Stylish Executioner. With this setup, most enemies you eliminate will likely have a debuff on them, making it relatively simple to trigger Stylish Executioner.
As for the Fragments, here’s a summary of their effects:
- Facet of Protection grants damage resistance when surrounded, and you will almost always be surrounded due to this build’s playstyle.
- Facet of Dawn makes powered melee hits (i.e. Withering Blade) grant Radiant. Powered melee final blows grants Radiant to you and allies.
- Facet of Hope makes your class ability regenerate quicker when you have an active elemental buff (Radiant, Frost Armor, etc).
- Facet of Purpose grants Frost Armor when you pick up an Orb of Power (the buff changes depending on your equipped Super’s element).
Weapons and Armor
For your main weapon, a Stasis weapon that comes with the Headstone perk is highly recommended. This perk allows you to generate Stasis Crystals upon defeating an enemy, which can be later detonated using a Withering Blade. If the Headstone perk doesn’t suit your playstyle, you might prefer a weapon equipped with the Pugilist perk for faster recovery of your class ability energy. Feel free to choose whatever weapons you prefer for the other slots. Some suggested Exotic weapons are:
[Your suggested Exotic weapons list]
- Ager’s Scepter
- Cryosthesia
- Verglas Curve
- Wicked Implement
- Salvation’s Grip
Regarding armor, prioritize having both a high level of Resilience and Strength to boost your durability and speed up the energy recharge of Withering Blade. Additionally, consider a high Mobility build for quicker dodge recharges.

In this configuration, the focus is on obtaining your Withering Blade and Gambler’s Dodge as swiftly as you can. Feel free to select Chest Armor mods that suit your setup, and use your favorite mods to fill any empty spaces.
To play this build effectively, aim your Withering Blades at Stasis Crystals or frozen foes, and use Gambler’s Dodge when near enemies. Keep repeating these actions until all the enemies on the screen are defeated (or you run out of ability charges). If you have a Headstone weapon, create a Stasis Crystal first, then break it with Withering Blade to shatter it. Be sure to gather any Stasis Shards and Orbs of Power as they drop; these items will help charge your Fragments and provide buffs for you.
How to Get Mask of Fealty in Destiny 2
Previously, I’d stumble upon an Exotic helmet as a lucky drop from finishing Legend/Master Lost Sectors. Now, it seems like the only way to secure one is by leveling up my rep with Master Rahool, which eventually grants me access to the Novel Decryption page. This page allows me to trade a single Exotic Cipher and an Exotic Engram for the Mask of Fealty.
